*RESCUED STREET DOG CHEWS THRU LEASH ON LIVE TV* In 2019, Tami and I were on a surf trip to Peru 🇵🇪 and our lives were changed forever. As it is common in many parts of Latin America and around the world, we saw stray dogs 🐕 walking around the streets of a small coastal village called Chicama, home to the "longest left surf 🏄‍♀️ wave in the world".  Unable to look away and go on with our vacation while this little dog names Pisco suffered, we contacted a small dog rescue several hours away run by an amazing Peruvian woman, Mariella, and her rescue @sweetpetsperu . We were so moved by her compassion for us and for the 40 plus other street dogs that she cared for on such limited means that we promised not only to come back and bring our street dogs to San Diego to be temporary barkers at The Barking Lot, but that we would come back and help her with the 40 plus other street dogs permanently living in her modest shelter. With the amazing guidance of Stacy and @barkinglotrescue , we returned last week with a bunch of medical supplies, antibiotics, flea and tick pills, dog clothing, leashes, beds, blankets and crates for the shelter. We built some necessary separations for the dogs, cleaned/organized the shelter, and purchased a surplus of dog food. With the help of an amazing local vet, Dr. Pepe Chu, we purchased and administered 40 plus vaccines to the street dogs in the shelter, 16 of which came to the US and were adopted to loving families through The Barking Lot.   #dogrescue #perudog #barkinglotrescue #sweetpups #perú #sandiego #dogs #love

The Johnsons are overjoyed to officially announce that we have added a new member to our pack after years of waiting for the right pup to find us! 🫶 Meet Cooper (short for Copernicus ☀️) Smith Johnson The long journey to each other started back in January, when I promised my boys we could start the search for our dog. Since then I have followed countless shelters on social, submitted many applications, and have scoured Petfinder and Nextdoor posts for the paw-fect addition. Little did I know that my brother, @waveglaze would be the key to it all working out for us. When Craig traveled back home to visit last month, he wanted to foster a dog during that time from @thebarkinglotrescue - where he has volunteered for many years. He had his contacts send us a few options that we may be interested in, and a dog named Dragonfly caught my eye. When Craig brought him over to meet us, it wasn't necessarily love at first sight, but there was something about Dragonfly (now Cooper) that drew us to him. Alas, here we are, more in love than we could have possibly imagined after the love we shared with our very first pack member, Gordon. RIP, sweet boy. 💧 Cooper has a heart of gold, a playful spirit and a body built for the cuddliest of cuddles. We are excited for what our future has in store. My big bro, @waveglaze , lives in Portugal, so you can imagine my delight every time he comes back home to visit. This time, he insisted that he needed to take Wesson surfing. Even with a crazy busy schedule of his own, Craig wants to expose Wesson to his hobbies and passions (soccer, music, surfing), and as grateful as I am, I was scared and hesitant about the ocean, as you would expect any mom of a 6.5 year old to be. But he was in the best of hands with his Uncle Craigie. Turns out, Wesson had the time of his life and is now forever changed and hypnotized by the waves. He already told me he wants a surf board of his own. Also, he wants to be a professional soccer player. Next, I'm hoping he'll want to play guitar or drums, so he can be just like his uncles. We are so lucky to have my brothers in our lives. We love them and appreciate their support! ❣️🥳🌊🎸🥁👍
