🙋CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS🙋
As Waveform begins to grow, involvement by others (that means you!) is necessary to help us plan more cool events and build our community :). We operate on an open basis, meaning anyone can join and contribute to the collective.
Want to plan an event? Put up posters? Help run the social media? Have a totally new idea that we should try? This is your time to tell us about it!
Join the discord (link in bio) and select the "volunteer" role. We will have a meeting next week :)

All ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience are welcome.
REGISTER AT lu.ma/wfrm (link in bio)
Frequently asked questions:
Q: What are we actually doing at this event?
A: It is generally free-form and very casual! Often, we start with introductions, then a more open discussion where we might discuss interesting music, the creative process, or share something we like. Don't need to prepare anything, but feel free to!
Q: Are we jamming, should I bring my synths/gear?
A: You're welcome to bring your stuff and do some show and tell! We don't usually do a proper "jam" but most will be interested to see your setup and process (or whatever you want to discuss).
Q: Is this for musicians only?
A: Not at all! We are open to any fans or curious minds that want to learn more!
Q: What genres/styles of music is this for?
A: If you make or are interested in music that is computer, synthesizer, or electronics based, you probably are in the right place! (Think EDM, experimental, ambient, noise, etc.)
🎆 YEARLY RECAP 🎆
In June of this year, Waveform was barely an idea-- and now it's a growing community! So, what have we been up to this year?
We ...
- ran 2 electronic music concerts
- published 2 zines
- held 6 meetups for musicians and fans
- grew a discord community of 70 members
- ran 1 book club
Thank you so much to everyone who showed up, helped run an event, donated, bought a zine, or performed at an event. Waveform wouldn't be possible without every single one of you! Let's have a great 2026 :D
🎨 LIVE PAINTING @ DEC 9 🎨
Happy to announce the wonderfully talented @art.by.lukey will be joining us at our December 9th show to paint the performers! Lukey uses surrealism and vibrant colours to create stunning artworks, often depicting musical performances :) He will also be selling his art in the foyer!
Come check it out, and support him along with the musical artists at the show.
December 9th @ 7pm
KW Little Theatre
9 Princess Street East
Buy tickets online at lu.ma/wfrm (link in bio) or at the door. $15 or pay-what-you-can.
This is Cindy.
Cindy makes magazines. Started with zero design experience, just pinterest binges and free online tools. She’ll generate a pattern, scrap it, try two more, then finally commit. Prints on library printers, cuts margins herself, staples it together. Every issue is her figuring it out in real time.

📖WAVEFORM READS #1📖
A Waveform Collective book club...?
That's right!
This November we'll be delving into Ghosts of My Life by Mark Fisher, a book about "Depression, Hauntology and Lost Futures". The art movement Hauntology is the idea that the present is "haunted" by lost futures.
Fisher applied this concept to describe a musical trend in his 2014 book. He talks about Burial and Joy Division— others have retroactively applied the Hauntology label to Boards of Canada, the Caretaker, Portishead, and more!
We'll have a loose list of questions to get a discussion going! Location is TBD.
There is a free PDF available online (link on the lu.ma) and you can get this book via an interlibrary loan.
Register on luma with the link in bio (or go to /deejr7gu)
See you there!

📚WAVEFORM'S FIRST ZINE📚
Happy to present the issue from our first zine, Sound Kitchen! Included is a discussion on harsh noise, an interview with Vice Locker, a technical introduction to TiXL, and more! There are small amounts of physical copies at select locations, so keep an eye out for those 👀👀.
Check the bio for a link to the digital copy! Next issue is scheduled for Oct 25 (next Saturday.) If you'd like to contribute to future issues as a writer or designer, sign up as a volunteer and discuss your plans!
Thanks to marbledmonsoon (Cindy) for designing/writing the zine; neuroflakes and Vice Locker for written contributions.
