Here I’ve brought together the microfreak doing the repeating chords, the erica synth pico vco through c4rbn filter with zlob entropy again controlling resonance for the repeating melodic figure. Across the record, low pulses, flickering harmonics, sustained tones, and tape-like drift gather into a wide field of sound. The music feels spacious but never still, hovering between calm and unease, with warm frequencies swelling like water rising in the dark. What begins as atmosphere becomes a meditation on pressure, shelter, and exposure: a response to nature’s force not as backdrop, but as memory, vibration, and shared experience. After a month off, we are back with a beauty of a lineup! . The night starts with Chicago Saxophonist, @sarahclausenmusic ! . Sarah is a saxophonist, sound artist, and composer based in Chicago, IL. Using woodwinds, synthesizers, and electronics, Sarah evokes much of the unexplainable sensorial feelings and interconnectedness of the human experience through her compositions and soundscapes. Utilizing space, unique melodic content, and diverse woodwind textures, Sarah has developed an approach to improvisation and composition that is forward moving, and inspired by many musical traditions. While completing her Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Performance at Northern Illinois University, Sarah studied under renowned Chicago saxophonist Geof Bradfield, and has had the opportunity to work with artists such as Anna Webber, Jon Finlayson, Maria Grand, Jon Irabagon, John O’Gallager, James Falzone, and Greg Ward. Sarah has performed solo and with groups under her direction at the Chicago Jazz Festival, Hyde Park Jazz Festival, and the Catalytic Sound Festival, and frequently performs at notable venues in Chicago. . Then from Appleton, the person behind a good number of our posters, including this one, synth explorer @matthewnast . The night ends with Milwaukee synth maestro @wavefiler .  Wavefiler, uses synthesizer hardware, tape recorders and computer-aided composition methods to create electronic music that is experimental, ambient and sometimes beat-driven. A quick demo of sorts learning my way around the Holocene NLMM using a looping sequence on the 0coast + radio noise through the Erica Synths Polivoks VCF. Similar to using the Hindsight buffer looper in Ableton Live in my previous post the NLMM continually records into shifting buffers (up to ~15s), then repositions fragments. This clip starts with manually positioned delay and then the frozen buffer is scrubbed with the mod strip on the KeyStep. #electronicmusic #synth #modularsynth #experimentalmusic #ambientnotes @holocene_electronics

I’ve been working with the Hindsight M4L device, which continuously records into a buffer with Push integrations for immediate loop slicing and reshaping. The tape machine here was modified with PWM pitch control so it can play different notes alongside samples in the looping buffer, functioning as a kind of drone instrument.
