Recent views: USA/Mexico tour 3 weeks. Brooklyn-Washington DC-San Diego-Joshua Tree-LA-Mexico City-LA->home I recently realized that this December marks 20 years since I got my first DJ setup at home when I was 19. 2 CDJ1000mk2 and a Xone 32. I’ve been doing this non stop for half my life now, and I’m extremely grateful for all the support of friends, peers, new and old fans and random people I still meet all over the place sharing this music. With all the strife and bullshit going on it’s still a therapeutic escape and our dance floors still seem as important as ever. @nhmla May 2nd First Fridays was a special one. Special and heartfelt thank you @djkurs and @deafwest for an insightful, delightful and hopeful discussion. Honored and inspired to be in community with you. @doepaoro (not pictured) for the beautiful sound baths and for being a key figure in inspiring this season @automatic_band electrified. @mijadoris moved the soul, inspired and spoke truth @wyldeflower spreading good energy and was magical in an all vinyl set and was joined by LifeSigns for special ASL interpreted DJ set. @wav.function dazzled with the projection art VJ accompaniment @_januarrrry set the sweet and funky tone on the main stage @dragartslab (not pictured) wowed and charmed @blessedandabundanthealing and @jenvbenitez for the heeling vibes. @amoebahollywood for the popular pop up shop! Expectations and goals are important, in whatever context or priorities one might have. One can get weighed down if one goal was not met while ignoring others met and surpassed or miss out on unexpected gifts. In the end and what’s important to me, there was heart, intention, discovery, knowledge gained, and some joy. Grateful for that.

» first fridays at @nhmla was pure magic. i was given the opportunity to curate a multisensory experience, which explored feeling and seeing sound. a portion of my (5hr) vinyl set was interpreted by an ASL translator, that moment was ultra special, it was magnetic, it amplified the entire room and filled my heart all the way up. collaborating with my dear friend @wav.function and his audio reactive visuals was surreal. thank you @joelquiz , still floating. » the magic continues tonight 5/3 with a special screening of “it was all a dream” a visual memoir from director dream hampton’s personal archives about the dawn of the golden era of hip hop. we’ll have live performances by @stastheeboss @myka9 & yours truly. 6pm-9:30pm at @lacma » photo 1 by @xlnt89
