In partnership with MEG, Konnekt is pleased to welcome Turin-based sound artists and independent curators Chiara Lee and Freddie Murphy for a residency. Their work explores how sound affects our perceptions, memories and emotions, linking listening and memory. During their residency, the artists conducted research on voices, rhythms and textures from recordings of all origins, with a particular focus on vocal expressions of mourning and lamentation. This work will be presented to the public on Friday 24th April at 5.30 pm in the MEG foyer. Under the name Father Murphy, the duo has performed on the most renowned international stages, notably at the Venice Biennale, the Dark Mofo Festival (Australia) and the Le Guess Who? Festival (Netherlands). Their compositions have accompanied films presented at festivals such as Locarno, Karlovy Vary and MoMA – New Directors/New Films (United States) . As curators, they have collaborated with institutions such as the MADRE Museum (Naples) and the Fondazione Merz (Turin), and since 2022 they have been designing the music and performance programme for the Museum of Asian Art (MAO) in Turin. Their recent sound installations have been presented at the GAM – Galleria d’Arte Moderna (Turin), the NOASS Centre (Riga) and the Kentway Museum (United Kingdom).

Dreaming With The Lights On Out on @konnekt.co the 8th April, release party at #cave12 ! You’re approaching the region where gravity feels tampered with; “Dreaming With The Lights On” is to drift into a zone where bodies and objects appear to have slipped into a dream’s editing room and reassembled themselves according to priorities still unfamiliar. The music begins long before the sound does—inside a suspended brightness, a sky that hums with the possibility of transformation. Cette « fin », qui s’avère finalement avortée, marque aussi la disparition annoncée d’un univers sonore fait de grésillements, de sifflements et de souffle - expériences indissociables de l’écoute et de la manipulation d’un poste de radio analogique.
