Congrats to @meridianhswarriors student, Sara Phillips, whose photograph earned a Scholastic Regional Gold Key and went on to receive a National Silver Medal—an incredible and rare achievement.
"In my 16 years of teaching photography, only two students have earned a national medal." said Tiffany Hawk, Meridian HS Photography Teacher.
For this piece, Sara transformed her bedroom into a camera obscura (pinhole camera). She covered her window with black paper and cut a small, dime-sized opening. Light streamed through the opening and projected an image onto her back wall—notice the upside-down tree. She then captured that projection using a digital camera.
An outstanding example of creativity, experimentation, and technical skill—congratulations, Sara!
