Bedroom views First of all, a round of applause for the natural light in this space 🌞 There are so many pieces that stand out to me in this room. The darker rug is from Will’s grandparents, along with some of the baskets, the plant stand, brass jam pot, jewelry box, and so much more. I love that we can incorporate pieces from both of our families in our home. The prints on either side of the bed are of Boston and a bridge in Boston, where we got engaged. The larger works of art are pieces of friends and family, and many of them are portraits with my sister, aunt, or grandparents. The quilt pillow was handmade for my great grandmother and when I saw it I knew the colors would be perfect in this space! Much of the furniture is from marketplace and the lamps and other pieces of decor were all thrifted, including the white quilt! The little frames in the bathroom are shrinkydinks I made in 2020 when the world was ending and I *needed a project*!! And the little plant was a cutting from my best friend 🤍 There is no fast way to decorate in a meaningful way, but I’ve been collecting little pieces I’ve thrifted or found since before college. It takes time and patience, and there are still many pieces in my home I’m not particularly attached to. When the right piece comes along, I can swap those pieces out for ones I love more! There have been pieces I’ve loved for a time, but they served their purpose and can live a new life with someone else, and there are pieces I will take to my grave. In the end, it’s just stuff, but what makes the difference are the stories and emotions the stuff provokes in you.

Views of the guest room and storage space Believe it or not, I’ve got all the clothing inventory under this bed (it’s on risers). My house is like Tetris! This space makes me so happy. My giant mirror from marketplace makes it feel like a much larger space. The rug served as the alter for our wedding ceremony. The bedskirt has been passed down from my mom’s side of the family, and my great grandmother hand painted the chest. It was where my grandpa stored all of his toys as a child. The tapestry I bought on a trip to Ghana, the blankets I haggled for in Peru, the hallway rug I found in Egypt, and the lantern and pillow I got when I was in India. I made the ceramic planter and flowers myself, and the painting is a self-portrait my uncle did. Every single piece reminds me of a trip, a person, or an experience and it brings me so much joy.

Kitchen and office/mudroom views While the kitchen cabinets and counters still bother me, I made some cosmetic upgrades that have made my kitchen feel more like me. I switched out the knobs, put in some vintage rugs, and added a giant bookcase from my great grandma that was the *perfect* fit (looks like built ins!!) for some open shelving. I love displaying all the cute dishes that I’ve made, found, or inherited. The landscape above my sink is my compromise for not having a window there.

I’m obsessed with this vintage Japanese Mino ware sake set The hand-painted Otafuku/Okame faces are too cute, and I can’t get over the sweet little shapes of the pitcher and cups! Perfect for sipping, just admiring, storing your rings in, or as a bud vase.

Some living room views 🛋️ I’m loving how cozy the house is feeling and how much it feels like “home”. We’ve got so many family heirlooms packed into our little space, paired with thrifted and marketplace finds and little pieces we’ve collected from our own travels. What makes me happy about our home is that almost every single piece has a story behind it, whether it comes from our ancestors, was a piece of art made by a loved one, is an inside joke, or was picked up on a trip. Each piece has its story, and sometimes we’re the ones giving it a story, like a few of our pieces picked up from vintage shops or thrift stores that we used in our wedding. Regardless, each peice has a sense of purpose and reminds me of little bits about our lives or our loved ones, and that makes me feel happy to be surrounded by all of them. Might share some more pictures from other parts of the house soon :)

I won’t be doing any more events until the spring (most likely), but I’ll be posting lots of goodies online for you to still shop all things vintage.
