Took the occasion of a new album to go long on how I think the future of all of this looks much more communities of friends and families supporting one another than measuring ourselves by metrics that are growing more meaningless by the day :: it’s hard to release music, and it’s easier than ever :: it’s hard to trust that what you made is even any good :: yet music has and will remain the way I can try to say anything to my friends (and strangers on the internet) when I feel I’m not too eloquent otherwise - it’s my way to say what I really mean :: album is out today, Bandcamp, Apple Music etc :: thanks for listening, it’s always a sincere gift that anyone listens 💚
The first music video from Partial Views is a song called “Polyglossal” - hope you like polymetric synth marimba and Husserl references - you can find the video in proper widescreen on YouTube via the link in my bio - also a great spot to pre order the new LP!
so much to celebrate in each of these amazing women // grateful I can learn from each of them in so many different ways // sending love to everyone who has lost their mother today as well, including @beikabecca & @jules_to_you - our family // a special shout out to my mom @gitaos54 who was out this past weekend and continually shows me how to care for the world and for our families - and is savvy on MARTA too! ❤️

happiest birthday to the loveliest person in the world @beikabecca :: who brings care and joy to everyone she meets :: who is always up for an adventure but also down to just read and get coffee :: who is always understanding of a weirdo who makes noises with drums & synths in the basement and who makes my life better every day - love you always 💕
“When an aircraft crashed near Coalinga, California, in 1948, all 32 passengers and crew members perished. After the incident, the Fresno Bee, a local newspaper, published the names of some of the passengers, most of whom were farm laborers from Mexico. But the Associated Press’ coverage only named the crew members. In the news agency’s article, the passengers were referred to simply as “28 Mexican deportees”.
The plane had been chartered by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. Some of the workers had traveled to the U.S. without documentation, while others had arrived in the country as part of a government-sponsored work program; they were going home because their contracts had ended. None of those nuances were captured by the words “28 Mexican deportees.”
That phrase upset Woody Guthrie, who came across it when the AP story ran in the New York Times. So the activist and musician did what he did best: He commemorated the victims of the plane crash with a song.”

Grateful for songs that tell important stories across time. This is one of the best of ‘em. Thanks Woody.
Thanks to my pal @vanplating for bringing your vocal and violin talents.
Thanks to @walrusmuse for the drums and the mix and bringing this all together.
Thanks for listening.
solo improvisation still scares me enough to hide behind a wall of feedback but then the feedback responded in different ways to timbral accents (i.e. the open hat hits) and to steady space between notes (towards the end) - then I found myself surprised by a metronomic feedback and it turned into something organized…ish?
Just drums and @walrusaudioeffects DFX-1 - ran the (mono) DFX-1 thru a simple Haas delay using @ableton Delay for stereoization (and some phase consequences, always consequences in sound as in life)
thanks to nearly crying in the car driving back to atl from a morning hike (took the day off) because of how lovely the chat between @magpiecage & @therumorsaretruecast was - especially when it came to feeling a lot of ways about being [redacted] years old :: it’s been a rough few weeks of physical and mental health and it’s a siren call of “stop doing so much music, you’re too old for this, grow up” and mixed with general busyness, it can lead to a loss of clarity; tried to spend this day off reminding myself that the challenges of keeping at music making are worth it - and I’m super grateful to anyone who’s asked me to drum, synth, mix, master, remix, or play music live with them in this past year; everyone who listened to Partial Views or The Moss Reprints; everyone who comes to shows or tried to: you’re part of a vital human chain that is a real battle against everything that tries to dehumanize us these days and thanks for having me be a part of anything creative you’re doing ❤️🔊🥁
Partial Views // 6 month old little art rock LP that you can stream or buy digitally or stream it acoustically by grabbing a record from the Bandcamp link in bio // ATLiens can go by @disordervinyl & grab a copy too
finally had some time time to get to finishing an initial idea in @c74connect RNBO on @ableton Move :: this process for building a homemade companion looper + FX is genuinely mind-bending & exciting ::
Groove~ is my “comfort object” and something I think thru in Max a lot, so I began there in RNBO on Move as well: a variable rate of playback that also determines the range of colors on the left pads
Audio is from Move’s mic and it’s such a fun lo-fi source that I can continually feed acoustic vitamins and minerals to keep the sounds healthy heading into a sorta-shimmer verb and filter delay, with rudimentary controls via the rightmost pads
So much further to go, but I can’t wait to play some weird shows with this if anyone has a weird show they’d like me to come play…
…and oh yeah because it’s RNBO the audience can become part of the parameters as well!
