Two weeks in London for my field studies during my master’s @konstfack , focusing on braiding techniques ✨️
Part two:
Archive research and studio visit during my trip that meant alot to me 🫶
At the V&A Storehouse, I had the chance to study textile objects up close, an absolutely incredible place and pure joy!
I also had the honor of visiting @jessica_light_ in her studio for an atelier talk on passementerie. Such a role model and a huge source of inspiration, I truly admire her work.
Feeling so grateful for these experiences 🧵🪡🧶🎀✨️
Rabbit cushion from an exhibition @konstfack earlier this year 🐇
Textile dye and crayons on silk, covered buttons and braided trim with drops of dew. 40 cm in diameter.
Two weeks in London for my field studies during my master’s @konstfack , focusing on braiding techniques ✨️
Part one:
I had the chance to attend two courses, bobbin lacemaking and kumihimo – Japanese braiding. I learned lacemaking from the established lacemaker Tina Patrick, alongside a wonderful community of British lace making ladies. Through the Braid Society in England, I met artist and jeweller Penny Arkester, who studied kumihimo in Japan with the renowned Makiko Tada.
So grateful to have met and learned from these inspiring women during my stay. 💛🪡🧵
