I’ve been AWOL for a week taking some time out to chill, not be on my phone and exploring the countryside in the North East
I only just discovered that @nationaltrust do holiday stays! Literally so perfect for a staycation and having a few wholesome days
So grateful to @nationaltrustholidays for having me, their stays across the UK are absolutely beautiful, so unique and a great staycation idea - either solo, with a special other or a group of mates - plus so many you can bring a pooch as well 🐾

How many beavers can you see this Wildlife Wednesday? 1, 2, 3…?
Ranger Emily was looking through the beaver enclosure trail camera footage when she came across this little gem. The beavers at Wallington are normally foraging in different areas of the enclosure so it’s very rare to see (nearly) the full family all on one clip – that’s 7 beavers in one short film! Only the mum was missing from the footage but she’s spotted regularly in the enclosure, so we know she’s keeping busy.
Since arriving in July 2023 (with a juvenile and kit already in tow), mum and dad have certainly made themselves at home at Wallington, with a further kit in 2024 and 4 in 2025!
Although Wallington’s beaver family has doubled in size since their arrival, the enclosure site was initially chosen as it could sustain a growing family, with a 1km stretch of river and a good food supply to sustain them over the seasons.
Beaver kits usually spend the first two years with their parents so we’re keeping a close eye on the beavers’ behaviour to make sure they are still happy, healthy and aren’t showing any signs of wanting to leave the enclosure.

This April we're bringing you a new series from the Wallington team 🌸Bench of the Month🌸
Every morning before starting a hard day's work, Head Gardener Simon takes a moment to have his morning coffee on a bench somewhere in the gardens at Wallington. This month he recommends the 'Mary pool' benches, at the top of the Walled Garden. Enjoy spring bulbs, blossom, birdsong, and the gentle trickle of water from the pond.
Where's your favourite place to enjoy a moment of peace at Wallington?
If you've visited the East Wood in the last few weeks you might have noticed a carpet of these small white flowers across the woodland floor. These are called wood anemones, and belong to the buttercup family.
They are often considered a sign of mature, healthy woodland, as they are very slow growing. At springtime everything changes so quickly, every week there is something new blooming at Wallington🌼🌼🌼
