Artisan House • Living room edit “From the entry, through the living areas and into the more private quarters, the spaces reveal themselves gradually, allowing for moments of discovery and reflection,” says Max Lee, Director at Wall Architects. The interiors balance the strength of the exterior with a softer and welcoming atmosphere. Natural oak, micro-cement and grey veined marble form a cohesive palette, while the central courtyard draws nature inward. Featured in The Local Project (Issue No.18). ——— • Architecture & Interior design: @wall_architects • Build by @lhg_build • Landscape design by Ploterra • Captured by @smartanson • Styling by @clairedelmar #thelocalproject #wallarchitects #artisanhouse #kew #melbournehouse #architectureasutralia #interiordesign

Artisan HouseㆍThe spatial arrangement is designed to unfold gradually, leading visitors through a series of considered moments. From the street, the house appears strong and composed. As you move inward, it softens. To respond to the scale of the site, we introduced a series of courtyards and pocket gardens throughout the plan. These spaces bring natural light and fresh air into the centre of the house and create a calm and comfortable atmosphere. Each main room, including living, dining and bedrooms, is positioned to have two clear views into green spaces. These outlooks help connect everyday life with nature and give the house a strong sense of flow and softness. • Architecture & Interior design: @wall_architects • Build by @lhg_build • Landscape design by Ploterra • Captured by @smartanson • Styling by @clairedelmar #thelocalproject #wallarchitects #artisanhouse #kew #melbournehouse #architectureasutralia #interiordesign

Featured Work | Artisan House, Kew “Befitting its location among the quiet, tree-lined streets of Kew, Melbourne, Artisan House is a carefully crafted architectural statement that balances sculptural interiors, a striking facade and links to the outdoors.” — The Local Project We’re excited to see Artisan House featured in The Local Project, Issue No. 18. At Wall Architects, we approach each project as a chance to explore new ideas in a meaningful way. Artisan House is both a reflection of its context and a project that pushes boundaries in terms of craftsmanship. “Kew is a suburb known for historical homes and contemporary architecture,” says Max Lee, Director at Wall Architects. “We wanted this house to acknowledge that heritage while embracing a modern, evolving design sensibility.” Our sincere thanks to our wonderful client for their continued trust and vision, and to the entire team whose work helped bring this project to life. Brighton Residences | A sculptural spiral stair connects each level of the home. Positioned beside the glazing, it draws daylight down through the spaces and creates a quiet visual link between floors. It's more than circulation. The stair becomes the heart of how the home breathes and how light moves through it. Completed Project | We are thrilled to see Brick Valley come to life, recently featured in the news as a world-first brick yum cha and bar. Inspired by LEGO, the design explores the perception of scale — S, M, L, and XL — translating play into space. From intimate corners to bold, oversized gestures, each element invites curiosity and interaction across generations. We are grateful to our client for the trust and collaboration in bringing this vision to life. A First Glimpse of Toorak Residence | Set within the quiet prestige of Toorak, this recently completed residence is a study in proportion and quiet grandeur. The classical portico and colonnade anchor the façade. Solid columns rise with measured rhythm, supporting a restrained entablature and articulated mouldings that give depth and shadow to the elevation. Built in blockwork and concrete across all walls and floors, internally and externally, the home reflects the clients’ vision for longevity and enduring quality, while reinterpreting classical architectural language for modern life. It is a fascinating example of how Classical architectural principles of structure and geometry play out in contemporary life. Where Structure Meets Stillness | Brighton residences mark a considered addition to Wall Architects’ architecture portfolio. Despite its inherent planning constraints, we successfully secured approval to transform a single site into two refined residences in Brighton. The ambition was clear from the outset: to create homes that feel generous and composed, distinct in identity yet quietly connected. A shared basement ramp anchors the project with clarity and efficiency, allowing the architecture above to step and settle into its context. The massing is carefully resolved to invite light deep into the interiors while maintaining privacy to the street. At the heart of each home, a sculptural helical stair overlooks the pool, drawing daylight downward and creating a calm continuity between levels. At Wall Architects, we see architecture as a way to unlock the full potential of land through considered design. We thank our client for their trust in bringing this vision to life. Introducing Tea White, 417 Elizabeth St. Inspired by the natural hues of tea leaves, the design is articulated through a contemporary architectural language responsive to Melbourne’s urban context. The signature red earth tea polish plaster forms the foundation of the interior, while the acrylic counter evokes the gentle sheen of porcelain teacups and introduces a contemporary contrast. Terracotta floor tiles and a polished plaster ceiling add layers of texture, deepening the sensory experience and reinforcing the tea inspired narrative. The result is a space that offers patrons a unique and memorable encounter, celebrating heritage through a modern lens. • Design: @wall_architects • Photography: @elisescott.studio • Client: @toptea.au #commercialdesign #architecture #teawhite #retaildesign #wallarchitects

Lily Street House• Classical architecture sets the foundation for our Lily Street House, where axis, symmetry and proportion guide every design. The formal composition of the façade sets a restrained and dignified tone, carried through into the interior with carefully detailed mouldings, symmetry, and tactile finishes. Natural stone, timber, and finely crafted joinery reinforce the sense of permanence and quiet luxury. • Architecture& Interior Design: @wall_architects • Photography: @aaronpocockphotography • Build by @alconstructions #classicalarchitecture #frenchprovincialstyle #architect #wallarchitects #design #dreamhome #melbourne #homesweethome

Awards | Joli, Hawthorn We are pleased to share that our Joli Hawthorn project has been recognised in the 2025 Staron Design Awards in the Commercial category. The design explores a soft and inviting retail experience built around Joli’s brand identity and the gentle materiality of Staron in Placid and Natural. Our team focused on creating a spatial rhythm through curved forms and integrated custom elements that reflects the idea of a “sweet escape”. Using Staron allowed us to deliver seamless detailing. Its durability and thermoformed shaping supported the calm and continuous lines that define the project. Thank you to @austaronsurfaces for the recognition and to our collaborators who helped bring this space to life. • Design: @wall_architects • Photography: @blachford • Staron Color: Placid & Natural #wallarchitects #jolidessert #jolihawthorn #commercialdesign #awards

Awards | Best Café Design 2024 Looking back at our award-winning design for Top Tea, Clayton, this project began as a sketch inspired by the Tetris effect. We set out to capture that rhythm in space, transforming the idea into a dynamic, modular environment that offers a memorable and immersive experience for every visitor. At Wall Architects, we see every commercial project as an opportunity to explore new ideas, experiment with materials, and bring character to the everyday. More exciting projects are on the way. We can’t wait to share them with you soon. It’s been a while since we’ve shared a construction update, and it’s great to see how these projects are coming together on site. Our Toorak Renovation is now in the framing stage, with mechanical, plumbing and electrical rough-ins underway. Meanwhile, the Canterbury Residence is progressing well with framing, brickwork, and roofing works nearing completion. Every project is shaped by these moments as they’re the foundation of every finished home. We appreciate the builders and teams we’re working with for their continued effort in bringing these designs to life. Something exciting is on the way - stay tuned for what’s coming next. #architecture #melbournearchitecture #architect #construction #canterbury #toorak #renovation
