HIGH STREET LOWS : A St. Helena Story The toe drag on this switch 360 flip from “Killing St. Helena”(2004) just never sat right with me. Had to return to the RLS 21 years later to clean it up 📱 @1of1elton #HighStreetLows is set in my hometown of St. Helena in the Napa Valley and follows a successful professional skateboarder whose girlfriend has unexpectedly died. David, rudderless and grief-stricken, embroils himself in seemingly harmless small-town drama while navigating the spoils of his pro model shoe’s financial success. This is book three in what I’m calling The Streets of Lissé, a collection of standalone stories that can be read in any order. OFF CLARK: A Traveler’s Story  Part love story, part spy novel, part skate adventure, part … podcast?  My second book, OFF CLARK, would not have happened without the traveling I did as a skateboarder, specifically three trips:  Oman, 2014. The first stop of our “EDGE OF ARABIA,” @visualtraveling trip published by @Thrashermag . This VT trip planned by @patrik_wallner with @laurencekeefe @goshakonyshev @fishinglinesworldwide was wild.  Thank you to our guides in Oman @_qazaar and @ferel_firastech . This lesser known but beautiful country inspired a big section of the story. As did Jordan, where I spent a little extra time during that trip because I was too scared to go to Yemen during the 2014 Houthi takeover.    Chicago, 2008. A spontaneous trip to visit an ex-girlfriend during my first summer as a “sponsored skateboarder.” I was able to skate and get a clip with @alex_pennacchia for my part in Organika’s “Concrete Jungle.” Chicago is where a big chunk of the novel is set. Japan, 2016. Back with the VT crew right after Michi and Pat had harrowing encounters with CIA agents. Immediately after hearing about it, the gears for a novel started spinning. With their permission and guidance, the rest of the story came together. Thank you @fishinglinesworldwide and @patrik_wallner . It was fun revisiting some of the spots my friends and I skated in St. Helena as kids. We didn’t get the skatepark until I left for college, so growing up we made the best of our schoolyards. Rudy, who is the narrator for all three of my audiobooks, is someone I’ve been skating with since I was in fourth grade.
