I heard the news on my ride into Chicago to meet Tiger that friday morning, a bittersweet memory I will never forget.

Today we remember and honor Douglas Leo Irwin.
Doug was a master craftsman, a visionary, and someone who dedicated his life to his work. His guitars were never just instruments, they were built with intention, precision, and soul, becoming part of the music and the artists who played them.
To his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, Doug was more than his work. He was a presence, a character, and someone whose impact reached far beyond words.
His legacy will live on through the instruments he created and the music they helped bring to life.
He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Rest in peace, Doug.

Congratulations to the new owners of Tiger. For decades, this one-of-a-kind instrument has brought joy to the Grateful Dead community, and we’re glad to know it has found a home with someone who appreciates the magic Doug Irwin built so many years ago.

I took a trip to the Phil Zone in San Diego where I got to try out this impeccable @scarletfireguitars Mission Control replica thanks to my buddy Jason with @osirisphilters ! It was such a unique instrument and playing it really helped me understand @phillesh on a new level. Though we never met in person I felt like we connected through the ether that night ✨ 🐎💨

Rosebud was the last guitar Jerry played with the Grateful Dead on July 9, 1995. Christie's auction of Irsay's collection has now debunked the long perpetuated myth that Tiger was the last played by Jerry.
Here is a portion of Christie's timeline of Tiger found on the auctions website.
"While it has long been reported that Garcia played Tiger for the final encore of his last show with the Grateful Dead at Chicago’s Soldier Field on 9 July 1995, Steve Parish has recently clarified that it was in fact Garcia’s final show with the Jerry Garcia Band, rather than the Grateful Dead, where Tiger made its final appearance. According to Parish, Garcia turned to his old friend Tiger when Rosebud began to experience technical problems towards the end of his set at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco on 23 April 1995. "

I spent the day on the wiring bench. Got four of these first ‘78 Wolf harnesses wired and ready to drop in and connect the Dimarzio Dual Sounds and ‘54 Virtual Vintage pickup set. Everyone is loving the tone and response of these guitars! ⚡️
A big Thank you to Mike Wald @waldotronics for his incredible SPUD JFET Buffers and deep research into wiring eras and mods on Jerry Garcia’s gear. We also got some great insights from my friend Gary Brawer who spent decades working on guitars for Garcia and Weir.
