Yesterday, we rescued 29 dogs from one of our most crowded shelter partners. This is one of our largest shelter pulls yet, and we truly took in every kind of dog imaginable. We rescued two mama dogs and their newborn puppies, “designer” dogs you would never think to look for in a shelter, Bully breeds who were running out of time, seniors, medical cases, and tiny puppies just looking to be loved. Our shelter system is in crisis, and we can’t continue to help if our dogs aren’t finding forever homes. Meet adoptable Thayer! This 5-year-old, 32-lb, mixed-breed pup is a happy, lovable guy. We rescued Thayer from an overcrowded shelter, and he is starting to build his confidence in our care. ⁠ ⁠ He is a laid-back, social guy who is happiest when he’s hanging out with his people. He loves pets and will ask for them as often as you’re willing to give them. This sweet pup enjoys going for walks to get his energy out, but is overall mellow in the home and spends plenty of time in his favorite nap spots. He has done well meeting other dogs at our adoption center and in his foster home. Thayer can be a bit hesitant in new environments, but warms up with patience, delicious treats, and proper introductions. ⁠ ⁠ This smart boy is fully potty-trained, walks well on a leash, and completed a training program at Canine School of Behavior, where he worked on his basic training skills, built his confidence, and got more comfortable with his surroundings. He will thrive in a calm home with consistent adopters who will advocate for his comfort, maintain his training, and shower him with lots of affection. Hazel is still waiting to join her forever family. This 4-year-old, 59-lb Chocolate Lab is smart, well-behaved, and always ready to have some fun. She is a sweet girl who loves to hang with her humans. She thrives on activity, whether it’s chasing after toys, showing off her smarts, or heading out for an adventure. Right now, we have almost 170 dogs in our care, and that number will climb by the end of this week. We haven’t had this many dogs in our care since January of 2025 during the LA fires. However, right now, there aren’t nearly as many people stepping up to help. We are urgently in need of fosters. Fostering a dog is the most impactful way to help rescues save lives. When you foster a dog, even if that dog isn’t coming directly out of the shelter, you’re making room at our facility for us to take in another shelter dog. Without available fosters, we aren’t able to rescue nearly as many at-risk dogs from shelters. When you foster with us, all supplies and resources are provided. You also have access to our foster and medical teams whenever you need them. We are by your side every step of the way! The dogs in this video don’t all need foster homes at this time, but we are always in need of more fosters. The past few years have not been kind to 3-year-old Strawberry, but now she is in our care and ready for her fresh start. Strawberry was found chained up in a junkyard and suddenly went from living surrounded by trash to sitting in a high-kill shelter. When what she needed most was a place to heal, she was met with more uncertainty. Despite being failed so horribly by humans, all Strawberry wants is to connect. So many people would have labeled her as broken or damaged. But if you spent 5 minutes getting to know her, It’s clear that her heart is filled with nothing but love. Meet adoptable Helga! This 4-year-old, 39-lb English Bulldog is a confident, spunky gal who is easy to fall in love with. Helga was surrendered into our care by her former owner. She had been living in a home with over 20 other dogs, and their care had become more than what the owner was able to manage. She is polite and well-behaved with people and enjoys spending time with other dogs. Helga does have the occasional playful streak and will get brief but mighty zoomies when the mood strikes. But her preferred activity is napping in cozy spots around the house. ⁠ ⁠ Helga is fully potty-trained, does well in her crate, and walks beautifully on a leash.
