Washington State has been named the most bike-friendly state in the country by @bikeleague ! Big investments in bike/walk/roll projects, statewide bike education programming delivered by @cascadebicycle , and policies for safe streets put Washington at the top. But there's more to be done -- we'll keep advocating for progress to keep all people on bikes safe as they get around. Read more on the WA Bikes blog.

Day 3 (and the last day) of The @cascadebicycle x @wabikes Washington Bike, Walk, Roll Summit has come to a close. Folks from all over Washington State gathered together for the last couple days to collaborate and learn to make our streets safer for all. Shout out to our sponsors @amazon and @wsdot For those who don’t know, The Bike, Walk, Roll Summit is a three-day event that brings together people from all around Washington (and beyond!) who are engaged in making our state the top bike, walk, and roll friendly state in the nation. During the Summit, we host mobile workshops, panels, experiential learning forums, and collaborative spaces for people who want to see biking, walking, and rolling as an accessible, safe way to get around our communities. The content is intended to inspire, educate, and inform elected officials, community advocates, planners and engineers, and more!

@cascadebicycle and @wabikes kicked off the Washington Bike, Walk, Roll Summit with a community walking tour in downtown Wenatchee. We got to explore and discuss improvements the city has built to make the area more accessible, walkable, and livable. Our advocacy team is in Washington DC this week for the @bikeleague Summit and Lobby Day! Pics 1-3. We met with WA Congress members including Sen. Maria Cantwell and Rep. Rick Larsen to advocate for bike/ped safety funding in the next transportation funding package, which the federal govt is threatening to make severe cuts. Pic 4. Our team showed up to support a local effort to protect the 15th Ave bike lane in D.C. which is also ordered to be ripped out - not ok! Pic 5. Exec Director Lee Lambert presented at the Summit on our legislative win to rein in e-motos and ensure e-bikes remain available and accessible to ride in our Washington.

Registration for the Bike Walk Roll Summit closes tomorrow, Wednesday March 25 at midnight! We're almost sold out so don't wait to snag a spot. Here's a quick peek at what our two amazing keynote speakers say about their work in safe streets and thriving communities...hear from them and other experts next week, in Wenatchee! Thank you to our sponsors @wsdot and @amazon for making this event possible!

Big milestone for Washington riders! ⚡🏔️ Our two e-moto bills have now passed out of BOTH chambers — and that's a bigger deal than it sounds. Here's how it works: every bill has to pass its original chamber first (Senate or House), then cross over and pass the *opposite* chamber too. Ours did both. ✅✅ When two versions of the same bill make it that far, they go through a reconciliation process — where the differences get ironed out into one unified bill — and then it heads to the Governor's desk to be signed into law. 🖊️ We're almost there. Clearer e-moto definitions mean better trail access for e-bike riders, safer roads, and rules that actually make sense for everyone. Shoutout to @evergreenmtnbikealliance for helping push this forward!

Both bills that regulate e-motos posing as e-bikes are still alive, and this week we have a chance to keep one moving along! You know the drill: Sign in PRO on SB6110 to get it out of the House Transportation Committee. Link in bio. ... Mini electric motorcycles run at way higher speeds and with higher power than e-bikes. They're different than e-bikes but it's hard to tell to the untrained eye! SB6110 clarifies definitions so that e-bikes don't get lumped in to the same bucket, creating problems down the road.
