@cascadebicycle Policy and Advocacy Officer, Tyler Vasquez gave a short, and stunning speech to show appreciation to @theseattlecouncil and the other organizations and people that helped make this Bike Month Proclamation happen here in the city of Seattle.
Seattle is one of the cities leading the national charge on making streets safer and accessible for all.
Yesterday was Bike Everywhere Day, but Bike Everywhere Month, presented by @amazon@microsoft and @lime is not over!!
The Bike Everywhere Challenge, hosted by our sister org @wabikes goes to the end of the month. May 21 is the Bike Everywhere Luncheon. Flying Wheels Summer Century is May 30. And we are always looking for more folks to join us at Pedaling Relief Project, which runs nearly every day, year-round.

@theseattlecouncil approved a proclamation naming May as Bike Everywhere Month.

Sunday May 3 was our annual namesake event, The Ride for Major Taylor!! It was the most perfect spring day for 42 MTP students and ride leaders to bike across Vashon, crush some hills, and experience the joy of being part of a large cycling community.
The ride put on by @cascadebicycle is an important fundraiser for our program which helps us expand the resources offered to our students like field trips, mechanical support, and pizza parties!!
Thank you to everyone who made Sunday a very special day for our students 🧡🧡🧡
What is bicycling?
For Khedija, a Tyee High School senior and Major Taylor Project Intern, bicycling is a key to independence, freedom, and access to her community.
Biking with the Major Taylor Project, which connects students in King and Pierce County to bikes, gear, and the education they need to feel safe on the road, Khedija has learned “that I can do more than I imagine.”
Khedija now loves to explore her community by bike and, as an MTP intern, is passing on the skills she learned to other Tyee students.
Programs like Cascade’s Major Taylor Project are made possible, in part, by community support at all levels.
Cascade Bicycle Club knows that a bicycle is a reliable and joyful way to move through our lives on our own terms. Biking catalyzes confidence, strength, and resilience as we navigate life and build identity. This is as vital for high schoolers as it is for young kids, adults, and seniors.
Help power the programs that connected Khedija to the joys of bicycling this GiveBIG. Link in bio to give today.
