Friday night is Venture night at Arcana! I’ll be playing some afrobeats, R&B, and some other fun and tropical sounding West African dance music I’ve been getting back into lately. See you there!

This Saturday, after our party at @arcanasf I’m bringing some things out of the Venture archive for a special day over at the Castle showroom @castlesanfrancisco on February 21st here in San Francisco. It’s a chance to share all the things I’ve made—objects, fragrances, and experiments made over the years—before we start a new chapter. Music that day will be by @mrbighappy , @phillazar , and @nookajones — three dear friends that have been a big part of the events that we’ve put together here in SF. More on what’s next later, but in the meantime, come hang out and take a piece of the Venture journey home with you. Drinks that day will be provided by our friends @goldenrulespirits

Next Saturday, we’ll also be selling a piece that has been a really important part of Venture over the past few years. The talented Grant Warren, a designer based in LA, had designed this table to help showcase fragrances from the Oasis collection at trade shows and workshops. Its frame and legs are made from a Solid Walnut, and surface from walnut plywood. A portion of the proceeds from this action will go to Problem Library @problemlibrary here in SF to support their arts + educational programming.

To start off the year here, I’m putting together not one, but two events across t w o days to celebrate 5 years of Venture. To start, I’ll be putting together a party over at Arcana ( @arcanasf )on Friday February 20th from 10PM-1:30AM. Then we’ll be heading over to the Castle Showroom ( @castlesanfrancisco ) on Saturday, February 21st from 1-5PM for an open studio day.

What made this project special is how interactive it was from start to finish. It wasn’t about presenting something finished, it was a shared exploration. Hearing how everyone experienced the fragrance as it shifted in real time gave the work more life than I could give it alone. Each person brought their own memories and reflections to each stage, turning the workshop into something as dynamic as the scent itself.
The Twelve Eighty-eight incense is available now from both Venture and Problem Library. 100% of proceeds go to Problem Library.

This Saturday at TMI, Blake Conway (Problem Library) will be chatting with Dapo Onikuyide about the fragrance he’s been developing for Problem Library, here are a few words form him on what inspired him to make this: Problem Library reminds me of the kind of community I had in school, people pushing the boundaries of their fields, open to sharing stories and resources, constantly questioning how things work and how they could be better. It’s non-hierarchical, expansive, and rooted in a deep love for learning. When they asked me to create something for the space, I wanted to capture that spirit, the texts, people, and moments that define it. That’s what Twelve Eighty-Eight is about.

I’ve been working with Problem Library for a few years now, and this April I had the chance to try something new, a workshop exploring how fragrance structure mirrors the way ideas take shape. We moved through it together, stage by stage, and what stood out was how personal it became for everyone in the room. That experience led to Twelve Eighty-Eight, a scent I made specifically for Problem Library and the community it’s built.

Special one last week at @shopandson , and one thing I still can’t get over is this spread that @primo__nyc put together 😮💨 We worked together to create something that complemented a few of the ingredients that you find in our fragrances. First, a saffron focaccia with fennel pollen, a pink peppercorn focaccia with mascarpone, a cardamom & earl grey focaccia, and then the classic Primo focaccia.
Thank you so much to @xox.naja for supplying the tracks for that night, and to everyone that came by last week. We usually don’t include food in most of our events, especially so they don’t clash when we have fragrances, but it was a lot of fun putting this together and getting another chance to share Venture with a city that was so central to how it all got started !
