Happy Birthday to the number one Bass VI Zonelord™️of all time, @mcbutterstixxx !
Here we are a few months ago taking a break during our first studio session since 2018.
RECAPPING 2025:
I’m a dad to a 2 year old. I love it a lot. Not much else matters to me these days. Hanging with homies rules and these days it takes a little extra effort to spread myself out to those that are worth it but it always is. Found out some old friends aren’t worth it anymore though. So it goes.
Got to do some cool things here and there but honestly building my own little world at home has been the most fulfilling.
Feeling very very good about the direction life has been taking. Finding creativity and balance after becoming a father has been a journey but it’s starting to get dialed in. The creative lifestyle that came so easy and naturally in early adulthood is returning. Sure, it looks different, but if it didn’t I’d be worried.
Stoked for 2026. 👻 Peavey Still Rules.
Fuck ICE.
Workshopping an updated @kirchvanlux rig from our last hit at 🍋. Some old friends have come out of retirement. Always plenty of @earthquakerdev in the cut.
🗣️ ARTIST FEATURE | FRED JACKSON JR.’S “WHERE’S CHARLIE?”
🔹SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
🔹TIME: 2:00PM-3:00PM
🔹VENUE: DUSABLE BLACK HISTORY MUSEUM AND EDUCATION CENTER. 740 EAST 56TH PL
“Where’s Charlie?” is a Chicago-based, multi-instrumental/non-genre quartet that explores the sonic galaxies with sounds usually associated with electroacoustic and improvised music featuring Fred Jackson Jr., Danny Van Duerm, Ishmael Ali, and Jonathan Woods. As the ensemble explores, they can instantly change the narrative of the story with a twist.
Fred Jackson’s life has been a dedication to music. He began playing the saxophone in 7th grade and has been following the path of jazz ever since. This path has mirrored the great jazz migration—beginning with Jackson, Jr.’s move from Texas to Baton Rouge, where he studied with world-renowned jazz clarinetist Alvin Batiste and became the first graduate of Batiste’s A.A. in Jazz Studies, meanwhile sharing the stage with greats including Kafele Bandele, The Mike Foster Project, Troy Davis, Mark Whitfield, Lashawn Gary, Roland Guerin, Donald Edwards, Nicholas Payton, Brice Winston, Alvin Batiste, Doja Composure, Quamon Fowler, and Wes Anderson.
Learn more about the quartet and mark your calendars for this Saturday!
