Not everyone who knows me is aware that the first records I ever played as a kid were jungle and drum & bass. “In Dub” is a side of me that goes back to those roots, an approach to DJ sets that’s free and unpredictable, blending rhythms and atmospheres that can be completely different from one another. YOKAI PARADE EP out on March 14th. In the liminal space between consciousness and dream, where analog warmth meets ethereal digital textures, emerges Yokai Parade EP. The genesis of this unique project lies in a profound studio session where Volantis’ hardware sketches met Hiroko’s supernatural narrative. The production brings together classic and modern synthesizers, with co-composer Niccolò Barozzi adding melodic layers that enhance the mystical atmosphere. A side - “Yokai Parade” Hiroko’s pronouncement unfolds a sonic inspection driven by otherworldly inspirations. In Eden Burns’ remix the reference to a fantastic dimension is re-marked by more colourful percussions. Flip side - “La Kappa” This time, Hiroko’s voice comes from afar towards a rhythm that arises abruptly. Fabrizio Mammarella’s remix displays a throbbing bassline immersed in celestial atmospheres.
