The Cibola National Forest has begun two projects affecting public use and access of the Sandia Crest area from now until Fall 2027. These projects are the Sandia Crest “Switchback” Hazard Tree and Fuel Reduction Project and the Sandia Crest Recreation Area Renovation Project. They will aid to promote forest health, address infrastructure needs and protect critical communication systems - including emergency response infrastructure and cell phone towers.
