Introducing the Visionary Studio Membership Program✨ There is a selective application process for this membership where I will meet and do a studio walkthrough with applicants! If interested email [email protected] also in our bio! ✨The Visionary Membership program has ONLY 10 SPOTS at a time for BIPOC imagemakers & creatives. Membership options available on a 6 month or on a month to month basis. This membership offers an exclusive members only pricing to make the studio more accessible and sustainable. Offering up to a 50% discount compared to our normal hourly booking rate. It is also a way to encourage consistency in our creative progress. In alignment with our mission to create a home and community for young BIPOC creatives, this membership also includes educational and community events such as: Workshops, panels, exhibition opportunities, work in progress goup circles, and member bonding excursions (photo walks, gallery visits, beach bonfires, and movie nights). If this sounds like a community you want to be apart of don’t hesitate reach out! We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Visionary Family! Vision board💫 My goal is to gain external funding to create a studio & community gathering space that offers free/low-cost education, equipment, film processing, and printing to BIPOC youth.

🐣We are celebrating one year of Vision98 next weekend with an amazing line up of events. Visionary Weekend registration link in bio. (I know y’all don’t like to read on this app, but I got a lot to say) One year of learning. One year of a dream come true. One year of carrying out a mission to cultivate a home for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ artists to be seen, to be loved, to be celebrated, to teach and be taught. Something that I thought I might create 5 or 10 years down the line has existed for a whole year. I did not have a plan, any money, or guidance on how to do this. I was walking in faith, intuition, and love. I put my all into holding this space, and all I have left is gratitude. Thank you to this Home that has held so many sweet souls, so much laughter, tears, and talent. Thank you to my parents who continue to take a risk and believe in me. None of this would be possible without them. Especially My mother who instilled in me the desire to create a village. Thank you to my Sister @nanitheboss for always reminding me who I am. Thank you to every person that has entered this space. Thank you to every artist that has graciously shared their talent in this home. Thank you for your trust. Thank you to the folks that have been to every single event we have had I see you and i love you. Thank you to anyone that has shared a flyer even if you couldn’t make it yourself. Thank you to @griffey_ for taking the first steps with me and giving me the push I needed to believe I could walk this journey alone. Thank you to @aubreytravez or your support these last couple of years. Helping me set up for every show, spending countless hours editing footage, holding space for me when I am drained. You are love and appreciated. Thank you to new Vision Family @angelnumberscam & @noormal.k that have kept me afloat. Thank you to all the women I know creating the worlds we want to see through community work @muvadivinity @schmenna . I know it’s hard work, and sometimes it feels unseen or under appreciated. I see you, and the world will see us soon because we are changing it before their eyes! It takes a village. I hope you all decide to join this movement🌳song: @ayonimusic - Vision

Thank you for being apart of the vision💫 A recap of our Visionary Weekend we hosted in December 🎥@d0mia & @aubreytravez 🎬: @aubreytravez . Thank you to @admdav for leading a magical tintype workshop. Thank you to all the incredible artists and performers that showcases their talents at our ‘Visionary’ Exhibition. Special thank you to @gift.davis for creating a mural of my ‘Vision Village’ the final form of @vision98studios . Thank you to @amirkelly for hosting the best vocal workshop I’ve ever experienced. Thank you to all those that came to our last Dinner at Dom’s to not only share a meal together, but share your own visions for this new year. Thank you to @schmenna of @lunesouleil for closing us out with the release we all needed through a sacred sound meditation. This past year has been extraordinary thanks to all of you that have supported the vision here at @vision98studios . I have poured my all into creating a safe space for young creatives in LA to fellowship and share our offerings with each other. I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish with little to no funding & a team of one 🥹. I am so excited to keep growing and expanding with all of you in mind. I plan to take some time to reflect on this past year on how we can improve and innovate. I am looking forward to securing funding to take this whole operation to the next level. I am looking forward to finding the perfect team of souls to walk alongside me in the journey of bringing the full vision to life. I will leave us with a manifestation. In 2023 all of our visions are funded. Our talents are recognized and elevated to the highest. We have deep and fruitful connections to community. We love on the Earth and ourselves. We are honoring our need for rest and play, and so it is! I am so excited to see all of you blossom even more this year. Much Love, Dom

Last night’s screening was beautiful. If you missed it no worries! We will be showing these films again this Friday at our exhibition opening for ‘Southern Bloom’ @lomagalleries 5-8 pm! Cine Bloom, an evening of films, dialogue, and collective reflection. This screening is a celebration of Southern-rooted storytelling, Black womanhood, ancestral memory, and the ways our bodies carry—and transform—legacy. Short films created by @domiaedwardsstudios , multi faceted creative @kerri.meawayy , and artist-scholar Olamma Oparah, whose work explores healing, movement, identity, and epigenetics through the lens of Black femininity, motherhood, and the Southern landscape.

Save the date ‘Southern Bloom’ a women’s group exhibition coming to @lomagalleries in Atlanta, GA next Friday & Saturday. Stay tuned for all the details and programming for next week. What does it mean to be born an American? Is it the paper? The anthem? The promise? Is it pride or performance—or pain? What does it mean to be a Black woman in America? To carry generations in your walk, and wear strength like armor even when you’re tired? speak truth through silence, to be feared, fetishized—but rarely seen? Thoughts I have collected in the past week, in preparation to curate a space that defies that narrative. Where women can be seen, honored, and held.

A day in the life: Mother’s Day portrait sessions with my @heartoflosangeles photography students 💐 Teaching at HOLA since January has been so rewarding. My students at wlcacculture are having their final exhibition tomorrow 4-7pm. I will be doing a portrait booth, so all the father figures have your time in the spotlight just in time for Father’s Day. Would love to have you all there to support them. I’ve worked in youth programs most of my life—starting with my mom’s org in Atlanta, Camp Village, and launching my own at 15. This past year, I’ve expanded my work with orgs doing amazing work in LA like @creteacademy and now HOLA, where I get to create, mentor, and be inspired daily. Grateful to honor the mamas and grandmamas behind these young spirits. I’m also beginning a documentary exploring girlhood and womanhood from ages 10–100—and just got into USC’s doc program to make it! I’m currently fundraising $30K for tuition + production—$20K needed by the 20th. Link in bio to support. 💛 What is something a woman in your life taught you?

We have one more event before we close the portal of this weekend. We are sponsoring a community garden refurbishment for MLK day of Service at Crete Academy today 11-3pm. We are calling for volunteers to come and teach the students about gardening once a week and aid in maintaining the garden. We will be planting edible plants to provide for our families and repainting the planters. Our founder and director @d0mia is the new Director of After School at Crete, and this is the first project she will be taking on. Let’s show up for community today, and support her in this transition. If you’re interested in volunteering or teaching enrichment contact her! To volunteer or teach enrichment please fill out form link in bio. This is the first project of many projects born of Vision Village. Our goal is to connect and support community through wellness, collaboration, and creation. Reimagining the possibilities of the future through building the world we want to see in the present.
