I created this bronze sculpture of a horse in college, and it feels fitting to share it at the beginning of the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Fire Horse.
This piece captures the moment of awakening.
A horse rising after a long slumber, the exact second it gathers itself and leaps to its feet.
It had been asleep for so long that someone built a house on its back.
Now the horse wakes to find itself carrying a home. If it moves unconsciously, the structure may collapse.
But if it remains aware, steady and intentional, it may learn to carry the weight without losing itself.
You know what they say: It takes a village to create a Crab Man!

I was able to custom make claw nails for the short film Cub, written and directed by the brilliant @slushhppuppy The fabulous young actress @averyilardi brought the transformation to life, from human to tiger in just a few fierce swipes. 🐅💅
It’s always a joy to lean into my work as a character artist, crafting physical details like custom nails that help tell a deeper story. One minute you’re a girl... next minute you’re prowling the school gym with claws out. 🐾
