VIRTA
VIRTA are known for their immersive live performances and distinctive sonic palette that defies easy categorization. The band’s unique way of blending ambient electronic music with Nordic jazz traditions, post-rock and psychedelia is truly one of a kind. VIRTA will perform their praised “Hurmos” album from start to finish at Ankea Festival in celebratation of its 10th anniversary.

UUSI JULKISTUS! Perjantaina 2. toukokuuta Tavastia-klubilla esiintyy VIRTA. 🌊
🎫 Liput keikalle bion linkistä Erik Fräkin, Antti Hevosmaan ja Heikki Selamon muodostama VIRTA tunnetaan elämyksellisistä keikoistaan sekä omintakeisesta äänipaletistaan, jota on vaikea ahtaa yhteen tyylilokeroon. Bändin uniikki tapa yhdistellä ambienttia elektronista musiikkia pohjoismaiseen jazzperinteeseen, post-rockiin ja psykedeliaan on vailla vertaansa.
Viimevuosien ajan VIRTA on käynyt läpi metamorfoosia, jonka seurauksia myöhemmin vuonna 2023 julkaistava Horros-albumi (Svart Records) heijastaa. Vuonna 2011 Kuopiossa perustettu, sittemmin helsinkiläistynyt trio on laajentanut äänipalettiaan uusin instrumentein ja suomenkielisin vokaalein. Tulevalla albumillaan bändi jatkaa musiikillista tutkimusmatkaansa yhä syvemmälle hämärän rajamaille.
Yhtyeen aiemmat julkaisut Hurmos (Svart Records, 2016) ja Tales From the Deep Waters (Tourist Information, 2012) keräsivät julkaisuvuosinaan paljon kiitosta kriitikoilta ja yleisöltä. Rumba nimesi vuoden 2019 Jazzfemmalla palkitun yhtyeen “tulevaisuuden kulttibändiksi” ja Savon Sanomat “sukupolvensa suunnannäyttäjäksi”.
