HYDROSKIN AR4 - NaiadSkin imagines the body as a feedback system shaped by climate chaos.
Part of Survival Kits for the End of the World, the work uses AI-generated design and pseudo-scientific taxonomies to explore how the body might adapt when water becomes the dominant force of survival.
In the logic of Feedback Bodies, the video treats the female form as a hybrid organism - absorbing environmental pressure, recalibrating itself through artificial augmentation, and returning as a new state of being.
What appears is not a vision of progress, but a loop of adaptation, mutation, and response in the face of ecological collapse. @violaorama
The exhibition continues until January 9th at Frautz Contemporary, Lübeck.

Viola Rama's work expands representation beyond depiction, using digital fabrication and AI-generated images to translate questions of gender and embodiment into visual syntax. Her figures, suspended between attraction and unease, expose the politics of looking and the conditions of visibility.
Rama's practice articulates a critical posthumanism, revealing identity as a product of technological systems of perception. The digital apparatus is both instrument and metaphor, showing how power, desire and visibility intersect within the contemporary body.
Her hybrid forms reconfigure humanity, rethinking boundaries between organism and machine, nature and artifice. This is an art of seeing, inviting us to confront how technology produces the body, not just depicts it.
Experience @violaorama 's transformative exploration of the body at 'Feedback Bodies', November 22nd, 5 pm, Lübeck.

HYDROSKIN AR3 - NereidSkin
Part of 'You Were Never Solid'
A group exhibition exploring water as memory, ritual, and survival through digital art.
Co-curated by @anika / @thesecondguess and @dianedrubay
Live on @objktcom
Part of the series “Survival Kits for the end of the world” that explores futuristic dimensions of water as the central element of ecological and climatic crises.Through speculative design, the project incorporates contemporary narratives and representations of post-extinction and humanity demise, metaphorically dominated by water.
Employing Artificial Intelligence to envision a future in which climate chaos has rendered the earth nearly uninhabitable, fictional technologies and survival systems are integrated into a pseudo-scientific framework, complete with taxonomies and classification plates inspired by scientific illustration.
Courting a sci-fi aesthetic to question the myths of endless technology-driven progress, hi-tech devices designed exclusively for women, are presented through animated charts, depicting illusory ways of implementing the capacity to adapt, survive and dominate the environment in ecologically stressed times.
The series draws on the symbolic association between the feminine and nature to reimagine the female body as a hybrid, artificially augmented organism, evoking female mythological monster archetypes as allegories of adaptation, domination, and dissolution in the face of planetary collapse.

MACHINA FAUNA
Exploring Post-Natural Wild
from 27 February to 15 March 2025
with Hypereikon, Frederik De Wilde, Manon Pretto, Viola Rama, Ziyang Wu
“Feathers and stones, insects, butterflies, and other organic or mechanical species with that slightly bitter chemical smell, wooden display cases or glass globes, and cabinets of curiosities have always fascinated me, and even more so when they’re bizarre, a mixture of unconventional things where enchantment mingles with discomfort. What if the cabinet was no longer a relic of the past? What if it looked to the future, collecting not what was but what could be?”

MACHINA FAUNA explores a post-natural world where new species emerge from the fusion of living and artificial matter. Plants, animals, and machines—once separate—are now entangled. A speculative cabinet of curiosities, a glimpse into what comes next.
