Hey! I’m @elizabeth_molly , Founder of Vinylettes ✌️ I’ve been collecting vinyl for about a decade, and this is me outside one of my favourite record stores in the world, @randysrecordshop in Salt Lake City. I launched this community back in 2017 when record collecting felt like a very male-dominated interest, and I wanted to create a safe corner of the internet to unite female collectors and celebrate our love of vinyl. Vinylettes is a place where you can find like-minded people, make new friends and maybe discover some cool music along the way ✨ Instagram has changed a lot recently so I’ll mostly be reposting to Stories rather than the grid, but am open to collabs so please reach out if you’d like to be featured! This week I’m chatting with Melody and Maggie, the faces behind Virginia’s coolest DJ duo @femmefatalesvinylclub 💘 Both longtime record collectors, they bonded over a love of physical media and similar life experiences, eventually swapping at home listening parties to spin vinyl at local venues around Roanoke.
 In our conversation, Melody and Maggie share more about their musical roots, offer a few tips for wannabe DJs and reveal their most cherished records. ✨ Tell us a little bit about yourself: 
Mel: My name is Melody Faith Mundaca, I’m a musician, writer, and DJ from Chicago now living in Virginia, shaped by a love of music. I mostly spin sounds from the ’70s through the ’90s, creating sets for people of all walks of life to find release, unity, healing, and connection on the dancefloor. In our conversation, Alexandria reflects on the growth of BGLV, taking the community beyond Instagram and into real life through listening parties, gatherings, even group trips, and how her own crate digging habits have shifted along the way.
 ✨ Hey Alexandria, welcome back to Vinylettes - it’s been a minute! When we last spoke in 2019, Black Girls Love Vinyl was in its early days and now it’s a thriving community. Fill us in!
 It really has been a minute and so much has happened! When we last spoke, BGLV was still finding its footing, mostly living on Instagram and fueled by pure love for the culture. Since then it’s grown into a full platform. We’ve hosted IRL listening and audiophile events across multiple cities, partnered with some amazing artists and organizations like Estelle, Janelle James, BadBadNotGood, Charlotte Day Wilson and even took a group of ladies to Brazil with us. We’ve built a real archive of 150+ recorded music and ephemera that I’ve started sharing on our socials, and overall created a community of collectors, music lovers, and cultural stewards who genuinely show up for each other.
