Jura season is BACK, baby 🇫🇷🔥 Every year these bottles land and every year they disappear just as fast. Domaine des Marnes Blanches has become a cult favourite for good reason: playful labels, seriously good juice, and some of the most exciting natural wines coming out of the Jura right now. Started by Pauline & Géraud Fromont when they were barely out of winemaking school, the winery has grown into one of the region’s most beloved producers. Frost, hail, and tiny harvests have made these wines harder and harder to get, so we’re extra hyped to see this new wave arrive. We’re stoked to offer: Dionysos is on Fire Gamay: It’s chillable, it’s juicy, and it’s dangerously crushable! Panda Pinot Noir: bright, earthy, elegant with an adorable label to boot! Shark Riesling: razor sharp, mineral, citrusy goodness from Alsace! Crémant du Jura: bone dry bubbles with big grower Champagne energy! We are stoked to welcome the Lost in a Field “Frolic” Pét-Nat from the one and only @TimWildman , the legend behind cult favourites Astro Bunny and Piggy Pop. 🌈 This project is Wildman’s tribute to his home country of England. He tracked down forgotten vineyards and endangered grape varieties across four counties in the UK, working with vines planted between the 1960s and 1980s to create this incredibly unique Pét-Nat. Fewer than 3,000 bottles were produced, and this is the first time it has landed in Alberta. In the glass, “Frolic” shows a beautiful grapefruit-pink hue and clocks in at an easy-drinking 9.5% ABV. Expect notes of pink grapefruit, green strawberry, crisp pear, and plenty of bright, refreshing energy. For wine geeks, natural wine lovers, or anyone looking to try something completely different, this is a seriously cool bottle. Minimal intervention, historic vineyards, rare varieties, and a project dedicated to preserving old vines that might otherwise disappear. Grape Republic gets us every dang time! Based in Yamagata, Japan, this all-star producer creates organically farmed fruit and low-intervention wines, using native ferments, little to no fining or filtration, and minimal (if any) sulphur. The wines are vibrant, a little wild, and full of life, with bright acidity and expressive aromatics. We’re stoked to stock two fantastic bottles: Bianco Macerato: A skin-contact white made from a blend of hybrid grapes (Delaware, Niagara, Rosario Bianco, Neo Muscat), fermented in a mix of amphora and stainless steel. Super aromatic, with tangerine, grapefruit peel, and fresh herbs. Unfined, unfiltered, zero sulphur. Anfora Rosso: A light, bright red, also made from hybrid varieties and fermented + aged in clay amphora. Expect pomegranate, lychee, cranberry, wild raspberry, and a bit of earthy, spicy funk. Natural wine lovers rejoice! We’re stoked to welcome two very special bottles from the magicians at Weingut Beurer! Founded by former European BMX champion Jochen Beurer, the estate is now run alongside his son, and the wines consistently punch well above their weight. These two limited bottlings feature labels by Calgarian artist @katiegreenart (you’ve likely seen her murals around the city), and we’re among the first to get them in Alberta. Quantities are tight, so they won’t last. The first of which is called ‘A Very Nice White,’ a blend of Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, and some unnamed varieties, this is a crisp and easy-going cuvee, fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel tanks. The second wine is called, you guessed it, ‘A Very Nice Red’ which is a blend of Dornfelder, Portugieser, and Spatburgunder (aka Pinot Noir). Similarly to the white, this Very Nice Red was fermented and aged in stainless steel, resulting in a fresh and sessionable red ripe with fruit and floral notes. They’re baaaaaaack. 🧸 Matthieu Barret has landed and some of you have sniffed these out before we even said a word! Based in Cornas in the Northern Rhône, Barret is one of the key voices in organic and biodynamic farming in the region. Seventh-generation vigneron, but the first in his family to actually bottle the wines instead of selling off the fruit. A very good decision. These are the bottles that remind you why people lose their minds over Northern Rhône Syrah. Energetic, structured, and very much alive. There isn’t a lot of this, so hop on it while you can! Vilain Syrah - Light, silky, and dangerously crushable. Red fruit, florals, pepper. Chill it if you want! Petit Ours Rosé - Bright, crisp, gone before you know it. Red berries, citrus, fun. J’Aurai ta Peau - Skin-contact Roussanne. Apricot, citrus, chamomile. Textured, a little grippy, and a very good. Petit Ours Rouge - Darker, deeper, and bit more serious Syrah.
