We are beyond grateful for this incredible recognition and experience. The ceremony, held at UCLA, was a beautiful celebration surrounded by so many inspiring people from the animation industry and of course, the best LA weather 🎉 This award means so much to us, especially because it comes from our peers in the animation community 🤍 We’re already looking forward to seeing many of you again soon! A few months ago, our Technical Director @vincentltm and our Director @tobiaseckerlin.visuals shared an in-depth look behind the scenes of our lighting workflow and creative approach for A Sparrow’s Song. We talked about how we used Katana and Nuke to light over 70 shots with just two lighting artists in about four months. Alongside the technical breakdown, we also shared the visual concept and creative process that shaped the film’s distinct look and lighting style. SIGGRAPH 2025 is over, and we had a fantastic time! We had some special events with 𝘈 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸’𝘴 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨, attended inspiring presentations, visited studios, met amazing people and enjoyed fun mixer events. At the Computer Animation Festival, we celebrated the world premiere of 𝘈 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸’𝘴 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨. Thank you for having us! And thanks to everyone who came to see the film! We had a lovely meet & greet afterwards and received wonderful feedback ❤️ We also had the pleasure of presenting our work on 𝘈 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸’𝘴 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨 at the Educators Forum. “I was extremely impressed by how she, in a time of global crisis, took care of something so unimportant.” 🐦‍⬛ 🎬 Set during World War II, A SPARROW’S SONG tells the heartwarming true story of Clare Kipps, a grieving widow who rescues a tiny bird. Director Tobias Eckerlin ( @tobiaseckerlin.visuals ) and his team were so touched by her compassion that they turned the story into a touching animated short - one that went on to be nominated for a BAFTA Student Award ( @baftaus ) and screened at SIGGRAPH in Vancouver this August. 🏆 ✨ We spoke with Tobias at this year's Diploma Showroom to learn more about the making of this special diploma film. Sparrows in Los Angeles! 🐦✨ Our short film 𝘈 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸’𝘴 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨 was a finalist in this year’s BAFTA Student Awards 2025 in the Animation category! We were incredibly lucky to be invited to LA as part of a special program @baftaus put together for all finalists: from visiting the Academy Museum, touring the Walt Disney Studios lot, and attending a masterclass with sound engineer Andy Nelson at FOX Studios, to a wonderful screening of all finalist films at the Darryl F. Zanuck Theatre and an exciting award ceremony to close out the week! Dear BAFTA, thank you so much for having us, it was a true honor, and it was great meeting everyone involved! Outside of the official program, we also had the chance to explore Hollywood, Burbank, and Santa Monica and enjoyed a special tour at DreamWorks with Thomas Grummt 🙌 Huge congratulations to all finalists and winners, it was an amazing week!
