The Night Manager S2. La Estancia 🌺 This set came with its own challenges. Heat, humidity, mosquitoes and a location that needed to be completely reimagined. None of that would have been possible without an extraordinary team. Huge thanks to Diana Trujillo @ladytrue , whose art direction and leadership carried the construction through extreme conditions. Carpenters, scenic painters, gardeners, props, rigging, location, an entire crew working at high temperatures to transform the space. The result speaks for itself. Special thanks as well to Melissa Villegas @melaisavs (Set Dec Colombia), whose deep knowledge of local artisans was essential. Together, we searched for a tone deliberately opposed to Roper’s personality, and her team travelled endlessly between Girardot, Bogotá and Medellín to source every object and piece of furniture that helped define that world. A particular mention to the incredible scenic painters led by Chan Canelo @chancanelo , the murals say everything better than words ever could. Grateful to @stephenjgarrett for the opportunity, and to Hugh Laurie, who approached the space with curiosity and seriousness, contributing ideas that deepened the character’s sense of captivity. The Night Manager S2 Not everything on screen is telling the truth. Creating Syria in the south of Tenerife. An arid landscape, volcanic ground, harsh light, a location that was technically a lie, but emotionally perfect for the story we needed to tell. These scenes were shot at the very end of a long shoot. And somehow, it felt right that the beginning of Season 2 came at the end of our journey. It was also a special moment to see Olivia Colman, Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston together one last time a quiet tribute to the saga and to everything built along the way. Syria was clear how to face it. Thanks to my concept artist @beaconceptart , my art director @hectorayu and his assistant @weltschmerz__c , for the mural work and to the talented scenic painter @chancanelo , whose brushwork added depth and authenticity to the space. Syria wasn’t Syria. But the story and the work was real. Prod. FARC Guerrilla Camp. Building the jungle. The Night Manager 2 Early location work in Colombia made one thing clear: shooting in a real mountain jungle simply wasn’t possible. By the time we reached the final stretch of filming in Tenerife, we had to face reality, both the guerrilla camp and the final weapon delivery sequence would have to take place in a jungle we built ourselves. So we did. The process was rooted in documentation of real FARC camps in the Colombian mountains, layout, hierarchy, materials, atmosphere. Even the smallest details mattered, including the graphic language of the camp. Huge thanks to our lead graphic designer David Alba @iamdavidalba , whose work across the entire series added authenticity in ways that should pass unnoticed - which is exactly the point. The construction of the camp itself was made possible thanks to art director Joan Martí, his assistant @bllargues and set designer @c.h.chapmankan , who developed and built the space and weapon with precision and care. And then came the jungle. Vegetation is expensive, complex and unforgiving, but our Greens team, led by David Carr @greensmanspain , took on the challenge at the very last moment and delivered a dense, believable environment with total professionalism. Today we’re spotlighting PDC Member and Supporter Víctor Molero! @vimolero is a Spanish production designer with an international career across film and television. Born in Granada and trained in Fine Arts and at Madrid’s Royal School of Dramatic Arts, he combines a painter’s sense of composition with a theatrical approach to narrative space. He began in theatre and Spanish auteur cinema, collaborating with filmmakers including Pedro Almodóvar, Icíar Bollaín, and Julio Medem, and has since designed for major productions such as The Night Manager 2, A Gentleman in Moscow, Culprits, Now and Then, and The Irregulars. His work on A Gentleman in Moscow earned him a 2025 British Film Designers Guild Award nomination, reflecting his ability to create spaces that express emotional and psychological depth. The Night Manager S2 The idea of referencing film noir came directly from Roxy @camilamorrone character. Roxana was conceived as a transient presence, someone who never truly belongs. So the space followed that instinct. A modest, slightly run-down London hostel became the perfect neutral container. It doesn’t define who she is, it preserves her as a visual mystery. Instead of classic noir shadows, we leaned into colour: neon, pinks, patterns pushed just far enough to feel slightly off. A room performing something… much like she does. A work made in collaboration (always are the best) with the brilliant dop Tim Sidell. Huge thanks to my UK unit team my longtime collaborator, set decorator Ussal Kalyoncu @ussalsmithers , and supervising art director Ashley James @ashley_james , together with art directors @amberr.king and @chrisguyevans made it possible and who always made me feel at home whenever I returned to London after long recces across Colombia and Spain. ​The Night Manager S2 ​A "hidden tango" in the heart of a gold museum. I had the pleasure of working with Production Designer Victor Molero to create a series of sculptures and art installations for the new season of The Night Manager. ​Inspired by the Gold Museum in Bogotá, these pieces serve as more than just a museum art pieces, they are symbols of the masked identities and high-stakes espionage between Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) and Roxane Bolaños (Camila Morrone). ​To build an entire exhibition, I explored multiple artistic directions, blending pre-Columbian inspiration with modern tech. Materials: 3d printed PLA carbon fiber, gilding, paint gold, stainless steel laser cut sheets.
