PERSONAL NOTE TO SELF👇
Between 2020 to Nov 2023, I was fueled by an unwavering drive and confidence that shone through in my work. I used a basic Dslr camera, but there was something unique about how I crafted and told my stories. I don’t mean to boast, but I consistently ranked in the top 2 of every competition I entered for, regardless of the impressive resumes of my fellow competitors. My friends even dubbed me "The Hands of Blessings," believing that anything I touched, turned Gold. After making Top 5 of the Accelerate Filmmaker Project and screening my film at Afriff, I was inundated with congratulatory messages. Unknowingly, this would mark the beginning of a challenging phase that would see my confidence wane. A surge of interest from EP's and Producers swept in, and I became enamored with the attention. I was earning money, referrals, and I prioritized churning out content over creating meaningful films. Soon, I felt unfulfilled; I wasn’t producing the quality I was known for.I ran into an old friend who had seen my latest film. "Great job, bro. But isn’t this different from what you used to create?" he said. That comment struck a chord, confirming my fears that I was losing my way. I was conforming to the crowd and losing my spark. The constant fallouts with Execs from various projects became overwhelming, prompting me to seek a break. I returned home in May this Year after my Father passed. It was a moment for reflection. How had I transitioned from creating "Chronicles of Abdul," "Sons of Nora," and "Road Trip" to this? I had strayed from my path, and it was time to correct my course. I decided to cancel all pending projects and take a hiatus from film. I experienced a period of financial struggle.
During this hiatus, I strategized my next moves. To make ends meet, I returned to journalism and parted ways with most of my team. Now, I feel revitalized. I've crafted new stories that truly resonate with both me and my audience. Unfortunately, I no longer have the EP's supporting me as I once did. However, until I assemble the right team again, I will continue to develop timeless narratives and patiently await the perfect moment to make my move.

Getting selected for the British Council Film Lab out of 1.6k applications, gives me thrills.
My goal is to keep learning everyday. To become a master, I must be sharpened by others who have mastered the art.
