Today, the fantastic German company of Mrs. Doubtfire plays their final performance. @doubtfirede I can’t overstate my gratitude for every collaborator and cast member on this production. The kindness, patience, and positivity I experienced, especially as we navigated a new translation being worked out in real time, was extraordinary. I miss you all. And I’m so proud of you. A huge shoutout to Resident Director @me_michelleescano Dance Captain @calum_samuel_flynn , Kids Captain @juliawaldmayer and ADC @lisawissert for being absolute heroes over this show’s run. What I wouldn’t give to go back into a rehearsal room and do it all again with @thomashohler @dustin.smailes @jesskess80 @nicolastenerani @bymiq @tamarawoerner @alina.jutchin @christianfunkcommunity and the rest of this special group. To the Germany company, crew and creatives: Vielen Dank dass ich und wir ein Teil der deutschen Doubtfeuer Familie sein durften. Ihr werdet in meinem Herzen sein. Für immer! Und jetzt noch einmal „Alle zusammen!“

To come full circle back to Stratford upon Avon after studying here nearly 20 years ago has been a special feeling. Shakespeare, lots of comedies and tragedies that on a page sometimes feel out of reach. Seeing Shakespeare at the RSC always feels different and explorative, and for my RSC debut I felt so supported to help create this new version of Twelfth Night, hopefully making Shakespeare relevant and relatable. It’s hard not to fall in love with the language of this production, each night in previews I found new favourite lines and moments, and the beautiful songs by Matt Maltese stay with you long after you’ve left the Dirty Duck. Being able to try bold strong looks with the brilliant @prasannabanana at the helm felt like such a privilege. James Cotterill’s design is so classy, and each time a costume came onstage we wanted it for ourselves (especially the shoes). Thanks for having me @thersc and thanks to the brilliant production and stage management teams who supported us creatives so wonderfully. Special shout out to @vicprogramming for also returning here after many years. Odd seeing as we are both still 25, but hope no one figures that maths out… Full details in link to creatives and acting company- .uk/twelfth-night/cast-and-creatives Photos 📸 @helenmurraypix

For this episode, we return to the world of stage lighting, and a discussion with one of the UK’s leading lighting programmers, Vic Brennan. The role of lighting programmer varies considerably depending on the style of the work being made, but there is noone more crucial to the process of bringing the lighting designer’s vision to life, whether it be a fast-paced music theatre number or a subtle, shifting scheme for a play. Vic joins Bruno and James to consider the nature and significance of this collaboration, what makes for a good programmer, and to reveal there is a whole lot more to the job than sitting in the dark and pointing bright lights in everyone’s eyes..
