Twelve years into shooting weddings, I thought I had gotten pretty good at holding it together behind the camera. But photographing a childhood friend’s wedding? Wah… different game altogether. 🥲 I’ve known Chad since we were about 8 years old, back when his brother,
@eugseah , and I were classmates, bus mates, gymnastics teammates - basically attached at the hip. Most afternoons after school were spent either training together or running wild at each other’s houses until someone’s parent shouted our names for dinner. So much so, their home phone number is still permanently stored somewhere deep inside my brain… alongside old wrestling theme songs and moves for WWE Smackdown.
So this wedding honestly felt less like work, and more like one giant reunion. Seeing all the familiar faces again - parents, grandparents, cousins - instantly transported me back to simpler days of soccer in the park, jamming those buttons on the controller, and just growing up together without a care in the world.
There was something really special about witnessing Chad and Frances exchange vows surrounded by so much warmth, kindness and genuine love. I’ll admit… this was one of the few weddings where I found myself getting unexpectedly emotional behind the lens. It was beautiful in the purest, most heartfelt way. Also, on a random note, these two creative humans are the minds behind our beautiful home at
@yasumu.home - so in many ways, they’ve literally shaped some of the spaces and memories we hold closest too.
Chad & Frances, thank you so much for allowing Armond and I to be part of such a meaningful celebration. I truly couldn’t be happier for the both of you. And to the Seah family - thank you for being such a huge part of what made my childhood so memorable, warm and happy. Some people come into your life for a season, but some families quietly become part of your growing up years forever. ❤️
