𝑙𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛 To round off the Dutch for Dummies & Soup Thursday series, we team up with Ioana Lup for an evening of letter writing, collage, and multilingual word games at @kioskrotterdam We’ll gather around tables to write letters to people near or far, to friends, strangers, neighbours, old flames, or imaginary pen pals. Write in any language you like. Collage your envelope, play a round of Bananagram, taste something new. Paper, envelopes, stamps, and collage bits will be waiting. We’ll serve a potato–leek soup, cornulețe, and a small culinary experiment featuring borș — a tangy, fermented wheat base from Eastern Europe that adds brightness to the tongue. 𝑫𝒖𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐬 Here at Verfris studio we like to have fun while learning new thinghs and exchanging ideas so we came up with a friendly way of improving our language skills and expanding our vocabulary while playing and we’d be happy for you to join us for monthly language classes and skill sharing workshops for beginners. Every month a native speaker will share their skill with the rest of us and spark conversation, questions and a little fun. This week we play together with studio neighbour Roos Groothuizen. @roos.gr is a media artist who cares about digital human rights. In her own practice, and within the art collective @telemagic.online , she researches the human side of invisible algorithms, information filters, and unfair distribution. Who is in control over what we perceive? Using game mechanics as a preferred medium, she gives interactive and immersive forms to these abstract issues. Among other projects, she developed ‘I want to delete it all, but not now’, an escape room about the power of Big Tech... and where you just can’t seem to escape. Additionally, Roos is the co-founder of the collective artist’s space @zipspace.nl in the Oude Noorden of Rotterdam. Roos loves games in any form, and weirdly enough loves explaining game rules. She chose Bingo as a game because it’s a great way to get familiar with numbers. And of course… there will be a prize for the winner!
