That balance between empirical art (what our eye recognizes at first sight), and art created from the imperceptible has always been there, the “spiritual in art” is intrinsic to its being, but this does not mean that we are connected to it. I take the liberty of jumping in here on your “UNA VERDAD A OJO” / “TRUTH SEEN AT A GLANCE”: there are few exercises as repetitive as the story we always tell ourselves. Giving words to others is always easier. My truth has changed with each passing year, with each experience and each lesson learned. Perhaps it is the most mutable thing that exists in the interface of the act of looking at a landscape, again and again. Truth dismantles itself and reconstructs itself. It is a random act of faith born from our preconceived ideas, from what we believe we know before knowing. This project was born from here... 💫 The truth can never be humiliating - @liviadaniel_ A few days before defending three-hundred-and-something pages about the truth, I wanted to publish one that ended up archived on my phone, on my computer, even in my memory. I had to return to New York to make peace with it, write a lot about it, and watch many TikTok videos in order to incorporate it into the work process and not feel it as a failure, as something that could be humiliating. I wanted to freeze the truth for many reasons. One of them was that I wasn’t ready to let go of the pain. Assembling and dismantling it has taken a long time; the goodbye still asked for more time. This project felt like one of Miranda July’s stories or like an episode of John Wilson. I was happy—very happy—and I lived it as a frenzy of emotions, because I was also very sad. Carson never ended up driving that truck to Tribeca, nor did Vicky and I manage to assemble the pieces inside it, or get rid of the smell of dead fish, or appear in The New York Times or any other newspaper. What we did achieve was making sure none of this work went to waste, and in less than 12 hours we managed to build a new truth—or at least a way for this truth to come to light, so it wouldn’t remain frozen or rotten. What we did felt like magic to me, and I know that’s true for those who witnessed it, and especially for those who made it possible. A truth seen at a glance remains frozen until its moment arrives. For now, we leave you these wonderful documents that Carlos captured, and these words of love.

T293 presents Sacred Hair / Capelli Sacri, the first solo exhibition in Italy by Spanish artist Nieves González (Huelva, 1996), curated by Victoria Rivers. The exhibition simultaneously marks the inauguration of the gallery's new location in Rome's emblematic Piazza del Catalone. Nieves González recomposes the story of Mary Magdalene through the symbols that always surrounded her: hair, chalice, cave, blood. She thus recovers the disciple, the messenger, the spiritual force that history preferred to silence. Sacred Hair / Capelli Sacri is conceived as an altarpiece where the classical and the contemporary dialogue to reveal the hidden. Structured from pictorial tradition, González remakes established canons from her perspective as a contemporary woman: the sacred passes through the filter of a contemporary aesthetic vision without ceasing to be mystery, transforming into something simultaneously recognizable and radically new. The exhibition invites us to rewrite the narrative from creation itself, a gesture born from respect toward that generative power that was denied and distorted for centuries. This possibility is now corporeal... though it will always be surrounded by the invisible, its authentic matter. 🪶✨ “El peso de lo inmaterial” is a myth for our time, a posthumanist project where the spiritual, artificial intelligence, painting, and the self converge in that liminal territory where the impossible takes tangible form. Tras las apariencias está lo trascendente², y es en esa zona donde el concepto de peso ontológico³ despliega toda su potencia: el ser adquiere densidad material precisamente a través de lo que permanece oculto. Conectar historias, crear puentes entre disciplinas y ofrecer una experiencia que invite a repensar las genealogías femeninas del arte español. Eso es lo que he buscado con este proyecto que nace de una urgencia antigua: reparar el silencio histórico de Cecilia Böhl de Faber, quien en 1849 escribió La Gaviota oculta tras el pseudónimo Fernán Caballero. Hoy, seis creadoras andaluzas @sssofiagonzalez @elena_nunezmallen @amara.toledo @marina_iglesias @anitadelacuadra_ @nievesgonnzalez continúan su legado de resistencia en el mismo Palacete que lleva su nombre literario. Gracias infinitas a la @fundacionosborne y a @casa.de.indias por confiar en esta visión, a estas seis artistas extraordinarias por construir conmigo este vuelo colectivo y a todos los que han hecho posible que las gaviotas regresen, no susurrando, sino gritando su verdad. Este diálogo generacional es también un homenaje a todas las mujeres que crearon desde las sombras, esperando su momento de luz.
