Alain voedt zijn dove zoon Milano alleen op en wil hem een beter leven geven dan hij zelf ooit heeft gehad. Ondanks de beste bedoelingen worden zijn onmacht en falen zichtbaar. De vader-zoonrelatie komt onder druk te staan wanneer Milano zijn biologische moeder wil ontmoeten.
Met Milano maakt @christina_vandekerckhove niet alleen haar debuut in de fictielangspeelfilm, maar zet ze ook een mijlpaal neer: het is de eerste Vlaamse film waarin een dove acteur de hoofdrol speelt en Vlaamse Gebarentaal duidelijk aanwezig is op het scherm.
