Posted @withregram • @burbankanimalshelter 🚨 FOSTER ALERT🚨 Amy is the biggest goofball hoping to find her forever home. She is a 1 year old German Shepard who came to the Burbank Animal Shelter from another shelter that was very full from the 4th of July impounds. The Burbank Animal Shelter jumped in to help Amy knowing that she would make a great addition to a local family. Amy did not thrive in a shelter environment and started losing weight and worked with the Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter to find her a foster home to stay with until she is adopted.
Her foster family is happy to report that Amy immediately started to eat, has gained weight, and she is doing great in a home environment. Amy loves to cuddle with her foster family's two young children. Amy is a large dog and like any young pup, has bursts of energy followed by long naps. Amy is house trained, quickly learned to use a doggie door, and does not bark in the house or yard. Her foster family shared that Amy is motivated by belly rubs, hugs, and kisses (especially since her tongue hangs out of her mouth when she is really happy). Amy likes to lay outside and explore the backyard when it is not too hot. Since she is a large young dog, she will need a backyard to run and play, as well as someone who is physically able to take her on walks to keep her active. Her foster family is working hard with her on walks, and she will need continued training on walking on a leash and not reacting to other dogs. She does have separation anxiety when left alone, which is likely because of all the changes that she has had in her short life and her high desire to be around people.

Her owners dropped her and her mate at the shelter because they were “tired of cleaning puppy pads”. Her sweet BFF died shortly after from cancer, and she was confused, scared, and depressed in the shelter. I went to drop off supplies from Simon, and she tugged at my heartstrings. She is already an absolute ham, extremely snuggly and kissy, very very playful, and entertaining with her snorts and gremlin noises. Anyone looking to adopt an adorable companion should be ready to enjoy and spoil her in her senior years with necessary vet visits and dental maintenance. She also has a really cute habit of grunting when you give her pets and affection! She’s a quiet girl who could live in an apartment or condo as long as she gets regular walks. Her foster mom reported she is a sweet girl that loves to snuggle with you all day long. She is very quiet and the perfect work partner. Kate loves going on car rides and enjoys her long walks, but when she sees another dog or cat, it is best to walk away in the other direction. Kate is housebroken and can understand several tricks and commands including: sit, stay, leave it, down and shake.
Kate is a special girl. She came to us in need of medical help and love. Kate has severe food and environmental allergies and needs to have a very specific diet for the rest of her life, but that's a small price to pay for a dog this sweet! She would be happiest with an owner who is home often.

Qualifications: world class snuggler, sweet freckly tummy, no tail (who needs one anyway??), playful, loves walks, doggy friends, and snacks.
Requirements: must have a dog sibling! Simon was rescued with 103 other chihuahuas and needs help with his confidence. Cannot be unsupervised outside because he is snack-sized. Is still learning the ropes of potty training so will need someone patient, but he is smart and treat motivated! He is a little nervous and cautious, but warms up very quickly to be your best friend ever. FROM THE VET: Kate has a common medical condition called Atopic dermatitis (allergies to the environment). This is not a condition that is curable, but it can be treated with regular bathing, daily medications, and a special diet. She is stable now with these regular treatments.
Kate will most likely need to stay on continuous medications for her skin, remain on a special diet, and have regular baths for the rest of her life. She may require extra veterinary care when her skin flares up. She sees a dermatologist regularly for medication management.

Betty Boop is one of the many dogs removed from a bad hoarding situation. She has been traumatized and we are working on helping her heal. She will need to be adopted into a household that has another dog(s). Betty is benefiting from Anti-Anxiety medications, and if in a stable environment/home, she may be able to wean off of them, but that is something that only time will tell. She may need them long term, so please make sure that is in your budget.
From her Foster Mom:
Betty is a young girl with a mature soul. She is anxious about the noisy fast-moving world, and would love a family of adults that will understand her need to take things slow. She loves going on walks and feels her most confident with other fur-siblings in her life. She doesn't love being alone, but does like having her own space. A cozy corner (or pile of pillows) for napping and a steady supply of treats help this beauty adjust to new things. When scared or surprised, she will sound the alarm- and has a great hearty bark for such a small girl- but overall is very quiet. She loves to sit in the sun and has learned how to use the dog door at her foster home, so she can take herself out whenever she needs some quiet time.
Betty is looking for a quiet home and will need someone experienced and patient with scared dogs . For now, we are saying no children in the household. She is a petite little girl and needs someone to spoil her the way she deserves. She will take some time to come out of her protective shell completely, but no doubt when she does, she'll be wonderful!
