7th graders spent the day exploring ecosystems on the STEAM Bus yesterday! 👏🌿
Students rotated through different stations:
🤖 Coding an Ozobot to move through the food chain
🏁 Racing the opposing team with food chain parts having to put them in order
🐟 Observing pond water and some water mixed with pollutants (oil, gas, dish soap, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar), looking at live vs dead algae under a microscope, based on what had been introduced to its ecosystem
🖍️ Coloring animals, but with their habitat surroundings instead of their natural colors

The Van ISD #STEAM bus ventured north with three of our @vanhighschoolvantx education pathway students to host an event for Grand Saline Middle School’s gifted and talented students with 5 exciting stations!

🚙 Coded @sphero Indi to sing a song based on the path students built,

All of our high school student teachers did an amazing job at this event, as well as throughout this school year engaging students and receiving invaluable hands-on experience doing so!

Today on the STEAM bus, our fifth grade history teachers booked a #STEAM exploration day!
Our students completed a few stations, requiring them to think outside the box:
They were challenged to get @sphero Indi to sing nursery rhymes
Coloring their own unique set of building blocks to build in a virtual reality environment with @quivervision
In each given an inventor challenge to build with @strawbees
Watching these kids, be productive and create as a team is a great way to end the school year!

High school US history students reviewed their material on the #STEAM bus today! They competed in:
A 50 states and capitals @gimkitofficial
A game of darts while answering riddles about amendments
Helping @ozobot finish the race with questions about states and their capitals

Coding the future while honoring the past!
Today on the #STEAM Bus, students used @ozobot and @kaiseducation KaiBots to journey through civil rights history and created a creative tribute to the legacy of Rosa Parks. From color codes to building critical thinking, we are driving change!

Fourth grade was challenged to a #STEAM end of year test review with a focus on:
🏃♂️ benchmark fractions in the form of a relay race
🤖 converting fractions to decimals to help Ozobot finish the maze
🧱 building Legos to visually represent word problems with conversions like feet to inches and pounds to ounces
A beautiful day for an end of the year hands-on review!

We had a blast on the STEAM bus today! We zoomed in on nature with digital microscopes, rolled through some “True or False” challenges with @Sphero robots, and planted the seeds for a greener future with our DIY greenhouses.

First grade Vandals explored the science behind soil with activities on the STEAM bus!
🌱 Students made their own DIY terrariums where they can observe their Lima beans as they grow.
🐝 Explored pollination & plant stages through VR with the Merge cubes.
🔬 Described all the different components of soil, sand & rocks while under the digital microscope.

Today on the STEAM Bus, we didn’t just tell time—we built it! We dove into the world of analog and digital clocks, then used Sphero Indi robots to navigate our daily schedules.
