Every city teaches me something new and Atlanta reminded me that culture is infrastructure.
Fidelity Bank Nigeria @fidelitybankplc through @amplifyafrica hosted a 3-day experience bringing together Nigerian food, fashion, beauty, business, and some of the biggest Black culture creators in one space. But what stayed with me most wasn’t the influencers. It was the artisans.
I watched talented Nigerians sell handcrafted leather and beauty products to an Atlanta crowd that had never encountered these brands before. No hesitation. No over-explaining. No friction.
Atlanta already understands something many cities are still learning: where culture goes, capital follows. Watching Nigerian producers and Black American entrepreneurs connect in the same room, over the same ambition, reminded me that the diaspora isn’t divided , it’s distributed. We’re building the same thing from different coordinates.
And events like this are where those coordinates finally meet.
Another lesson? Visibility and value are not the same thing.
The influencers were the draw. The artisans were the lesson. Influence without substance is borrowed time. Substance without visibility is a missed opportunity. The brands that win long-term learn how to build both.
