and counting!
Can't believe that this is our 10th year since we first opened VÂNĂ Studio.
Lots to celebrate. And lots to do still. Lots of motion, basically...ha ha!
Here's our super short version animation showreel (very hard to decide what made the cut and what didn't) with some of our absolute loves from this ride.
Each year brought a whole bunch of learnings and whole new levels unlocked. Animation and entrepreneurship-wise.
Cheers to everyone who's been part of the journey. You made it worthwhile, and a whole lot meaningful.
And seems like this ride is getting more and more interesting, thanks to new friendships, challenges, and curiosities :D

We worked on a series of animations here, designed to sit inside the experience, not on top of it.

For us, it was one of the most rewarding museum experiences in Romania.

Rewind to 2021
when we created
an animated identity universe for the indie music label Underdog Station.
Music and animation are a mix that’s just right. Music videos. Album covers. Animated logos. Animation on footage. (lucky to be doing all of these)
Different expressions for emotion.
We built this whole world around their sound and their soul — from storyboards to motion that works both on stage and on screen.
Went a bit crazy with some details, but this is our trademark.
Aaand we had some obvious references - see if you spot them..

Adèle, our colleague animator, lets you in on the micro story of the factory & the tractor. It’s a piece we all loved so we zoomed in on it.
It has a good pace, a good ease in and ease out, the right speed for transition. All these make it feel natural and dynamic.
And it conveys a certain confidence for the brand itself.

Last year, we were very excited to be the ones animating The Original Superstars and bringing a peek of their rebellious nature to life for the Enescu Festival.
This year, we are very excited about the Golden Comma Awards recognition in Best Storytelling Campaign.
This is something that only the @glitchsh.op team could have gotten us into - and we so thank them for this, and for their beautiful minds and hard work.
Grateful to the @brd_groupesocietegenerale team for their appetite for culture and fresh punkish ideas.
We all need it. We all so very much enjoy it.

We’re calling it our very first animation project from 10 years ago.
A 2-part animation totalling 3 minutes and 30 seconds. All done in a team of three people, over the course of 2.5 summer months.
So little budget, so big ambitions.
I remember that it didn’t even matter how much they were willing to spend on this, but the fact that they were willing to spend on an animation we create.
The very first animation script written by Anca Manolache for a client.
The very first (longer form) animation illustrated by Horia.
The very first (longer form) story animated by Horia and Mădălin.
And the very first contribution to the team by our then-French intern, Adèle.
You wouldn’t have guessed that an institution was our very first animation client, but swear it’s true. Only God can judge :))

P.S.: Back then, we were three +1 - Horia and Mădălin were working from the office at NOD, while Anca was mostly working from home, in between diapers 🙂 and Adèle was getting acquainted with Romania.
