New from #VAFolklife: “Dance Revolution” will explore how communities across Virginia are coming together through movement, tradition, and shared experience 💃
This year-long initiative partners with five dance groups to highlight the power of social dance as a democratic, living art form that connects people across cultures and generations. The project will culminate at the 2026 Richmond Folk Festival, with a video podcast series and community-centered programming along the way.
From Indigenous dance traditions to soul line dancing, bomba, and Bharatanatyam, “Dance Revolution” celebrates the many ways Virginians express identity, history, and joy through dance.
