Dear Community, We’re excited to launch the first edition of Celebrating Our Griots, a series dedicated to uplifting the storytellers, visionaries, and culture-shapers in our midst; those working to transform the narrative of Africa and its Diaspora. For our inaugural feature, we’re honored to spotlight Griot @uzzzoma , an Abuja-based artist and creative technologist whose work weaves together art and innovation to explore our ancestral past, interrogate the post-colonial present, and imagine a liberated African future. If you or someone you know would like to be featured, please send us a DM.

Postcards from London x The Parlour by ETP 💌🛋️ Last week in The Parlour we spoke about the things that connect us across the continent and the diaspora. 🗺️ We spoke about the things that threaten to divide us. And in speaking we saw the need to speak. To, not at, one other. It was a great time of knowledge and perspective exchange between participants from West Africa, the UK and the Caribbean 🌱 I also got to share my ongoing Postcards from London series which was very much inspired by the themes of The Parlour - diasporic connections, questions of home and longing 💌 Much much love to @ezraola for the invitation, looking forward to continue exploring these ideas with you Thank you to @seedarchives for a beautiful space to have these conversations in And much love to everyone who showed up and contributed generously 🌸

Postcards from London (3/3): Nigerian Luminaries Discuss Nigeria in London 💌 I swear, the sweetest place to be Nigerian is outside Nigeria I had the privilege of witnessing @yinkashonibarestudio in conversation with Ben Okri moderated by @oseibonsu_ at the opening of the Nigerian Modernism exhibition at @tate Brilliant discussion about Nigerian art. But then I started thinking how interesting it is to be having these conversations in London. And hosted at an institution like the Tate… Are we having them as much in Nigeria? And around Nigeria as well, not only in Lagos Is there enough hunger from the public for these conversations? Or are they limited to an intellectual elite? I love the hunger for intellectual discourse about Nigeria that exists outside Naij. I wish it were more a feature of life in today’s Nigeria. But it seems like we are too busy surviving? I don’t know

Postcards from London (2/3): Biding the Time ⌚️🙄 I got the sense from a number of convos that many young Nigerians don’t actually want to be in London 🇬🇧💂. They see the city as a temporary space where they can work, stack up their paper and eventually go home. Then real life can begin. Till then they’re just, biding the time. ~ 5 years, 7 years, 10 years and we japa-da ✨ ~ Are you biding the time?

Postcards from London (1/3) 💌 Spending the past few weeks in London 🇬🇧☕️ made me think a lot about how we relate to one another across the diaspora. How do Nigerians in Naij see abroad vs how do Nigerians abroad view home? What stereotypes, misconceptions and ideas do we have about ourselves? How are we keeping the connection alive, even across great distances? Do we have opportunities to truly connect? Postcards from London is a short, ongoing series exploring these questions 💌📮📫 Grateful to @ezraola for all the convos and ideas around this

📢 WE’RE BACK 📢 Hello, it’s been a while! We are pleased to announce our Autumn 2025 - Spring 2026 cycle, a series of educational events dedicated to demystifying AI through an artistic lens and offering critical perspectives on this rapidly growing yet largely unchecked technology. This season, we want to dedicate time to educating ourselves on how this technology is developed and functions. To be clear, *WE ARE NOT PRO-AI or advocating for its use.* We believe that technology is a reflection of its maker and to reimagine invention outside of the frameworks that Big Tech impose, more people need to be informed and involved in these conversations around technology - a sphere which has historically been white, male, and tied to class. This is why we’ve designed the upcoming cycle to explore the basics and get into counter/experimental uses of AI as well. 📅 To kick-us off, we will begin with Intro to AI: How Machines Think,  a creative hands-on workshop co-led with designer and educator, Laurent Yee. ✨London - November 4th, 6:30pm, Newspeak House (Shoreditch) ✨Virtual - November 25th, 7pm ✨Abuja - To Be Confirmed This session invites participants to take part in a manual data tagging + image generation exercise to  better understand how machine learning works. We will start with a brief presentation and then move into groups for collaboration and discussion. 🎟️ All details and tickets are in the link in our bio! £5 suggested donation or free if low income/unwaged (limited) . New website is under construction so please use the link in our bio instead of future-inventions.net for now
