In 2014, Tamiko Nimura, ’00, ’04, boarded a bus to Tule Lake — the site of the largest concentration camp for Japanese Americans during World War II — in search of a place that had shaped her family’s history. It was where her father was imprisoned from age 10 to 14. Her experience forms the core of her new memoir, out now from @uwapress .
@shinyupai has the story for #UWMag at the link in our bio.

We are still feeling the glow from Better Together Service Day with @BECU ! More than 100 folks came out and got so much accomplished around the U District in a single morning:
- Removed 400 pounds of trash from around @theteenfeedtimes and the U District.
- Washed windows at 20 area businesses.
- Worked with The People's Breakfast to serve hot breakfast to more than 150 community members.
- Delivered 4,000 cutlery kits to Friday Feast at @churchontheave .
- Assembled 500 toiletry kits for the @uwfoodpantry .
- Did distribution prep at @udistrictfoodbank to help more than 1,500+ households.
Not only that, but the community also delivered more than 125 pounds of food to the campus food pantries at UW Seattle, UW Bothell and UW Tacoma by donating to collection bins at UWAA events and BECU branches. What a spectacular display of Husky generosity!
Big thanks to @udistrictpartnership for their help in making this all happen.

Congrats to the @washingtonrowing squad, who pulled off the narrowest Windemere Cup victory in the meet's nearly 40-year history!

From RSO flyers to student performances to career opportunities, the UW's campus billboards connect students to the news they need. But what (if anything) do different UW buildings' bulletin boards say about the people who study there?
UW Magazine reviewed 14 campus billboards on aesthetics, organization and content. See how your faves fared at the link in our bio!
We've had such a fun time celebrating YOU during Member Appreciation Month! From Tacoma to the International District to the UW campus, we've had a great time with trivia showdowns, movie nights and delicious meals together. Thanks to you all for being part of this vibrant Husky community!
UW professor Gregg Colburn has brought together a team UW faculty, staff and students to form the Housing Futures Center, to help address the housing crisis in Washington state.
"I want a state where people can thrive," said Colburn. "And one of the ways to thrive is to make sure that you have housing that's affordable for you." It's just another way the UW is solving real-world problems in our communities.
Check it out at the link in our bio!
