Life After Moody: Meet Leni Steinhardt, a 2024 #TEXASMoody Journalism graduate and
@utnyprogram participant from South Florida. Leni currently works in New York City as a Brand Marketing Coordinator for NBC News, working with the major network to promote various projects to large audiences.
Leni’s time studying Journalism taught her important skills that she implements every day in her role with NBC News. “At Moody, there was a big focus on actually asking for feedback, having real conversations with professors, getting their perspective, and using that input to make your work stronger.”” Utilizing these skills, Leni worked with a team to rollout the new subscription plan on the NBC News app. “Getting to collaborate with graphic designers and shape the overall look and feel of the launch was extremely exciting.””
In addition to her studies, Leni spent her time at Moody serving as an editor for
@thedailytexan audio department while also working with
@thedragaudio on various projects. Now, Leni spends her time at NBC News helping write copy for banners and promo spots, checking the spelling of names and titles, and tracking down broadcast archives.“Journalism has been incredibly valuable in my career. Even though I pivoted towards marketing, my role still requires me to stay plugged into the news cycle.””
Leni’s advice for current #TEXASMoody students is to follow up with a note of gratitude. From thanking a professor at the end of a course to acknowledging guest speakers, “a short note over email or LinkedIn that highlights what you appreciated goes a long way and leaves a lasting impression,” Leni emphasized.
The opportunities that Moody provided for Leni truly made a lasting impact on her career trajectory. “Between programs like UTNY, student‑run publications, and leadership opportunities across campus, it’s impossible not to look back on my time with gratitude.””
“Choosing Moody remains one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
