🌡️Our 2025–26 Temperature Check report is officially out! Read the full report at the link in our bio. 🌎This release rounds out a busy and incredibly productive Earth Month for our center, filled with research, events, and meaningful conversations across campus and beyond. 🗒In this year’s report, more than 50% of climate communicators identified the over-politicization of climate change and the positions of the current U.S. presidential administration as their biggest challenge in 2025. Across all climate and environmental issues, communicators expressed the greatest concern about the continued lack of meaningful climate action. #ClimateCommunication #EarthMonth #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalLeadership

Every climate story is personal. When the 2025 LA fires tore through Los Angeles and neighboring cities, the scale of destruction was staggering. Thousands of acres burned. Several neighborhoods were evacuated. Over a hundred thousand people were forced to leave behind the homes they had built their lives around. But for those who lived through it, the impact of the fires cannot be captured by these numbers alone. The losses unfold in quieter, more intimate ways — the anxiety of packing all your belongings into a car without knowing where to go or what to do, the fear of not knowing what will be lost and what will remain, the dread when you discover that even though your house survived, it is no longer safe to live in. The USC Annenberg Center for Climate Journalism and Communication announces the launch of a special season of @usc_electricfutures Futures, titled My Story Is a Climate Story. This three-episode series documents the lived experiences of five USC professors who were displaced by the 2025 LA fires. Over the course of nine months, they reflected on what it meant to lose their homes and communities, to navigate a prolonged process of displacement and recovery, and to bring those deeply personal experiences back into their work as educators, leaders, and community members. Rather than framing climate change solely through policy, projections, or environmental data, this series centers its human consequences — the emotional toll, the institutional challenges, and the long-term impacts that continue long after immediate disaster response ends. My Story Is a Climate Story offers an intimate look at how climate-amplified disasters reshape lives, relationships, and the way people understand their place in the world. 🎧 The season is now streaming on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music. #MyStoryIsAClimateStory

Earth Month at the #ASCJ Center for Climate Communication and Journalism means hosting critical conversations on energy and sustainability – both in-person and over the airwaves! Early in April, @uscclimate held a live recording of their award-winning “Electric Futures” podcast, bringing community and climate experts into conversation about the impacts of data centers. Former Director of Sustainability for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Georgina Grenon also shared her insights on climate diplomacy and sustainability leadership with #ASCJ students, faculty and staff in a joint event with #ASCJ’s Center on @publicdiplomacy . Thank you to all who attended for supporting these important conversations!

We are excited to share two podcast episodes featuring two members of our center, Director Allison Agsten and Research Assistant Nadia Lozano. The episodes reflect on the importance of climate change communication and how to engage in meaningful dialogue.  Center for Climate Journalism and Communication Director Allison Agsten joins @joanmichelson on the #ElectricLadiesPodcast to discuss “How To Talk “Climate” To Keep People Safe.” In the episode, Allison shares how to keep people safe with adaptation strategies without talking about climate change.  Nadia Lozano joins the #DisruptingPeacePodcast hosted by the @worldpeacefdtn to discuss “What Works to Combat Climate Change Misinformation?” Nadia shares how the Climate Center for Journalism and Communication’s certificate program empowers journalists to accurately report climate science and elevate communities while engaging audiences.  Listen to both episodes on all platforms!✨
