Update for U.S. citizens in the UAE— please read the below in its entirety: Event: Potential Aerial Threats in the UAE On May 4, 2026, the UAE Ministry of Interior issued several public alerts via mobile phone that warned of potential aerial threats. The U.S. Mission to the UAE is monitoring the situation and urges Americans to please follow instructions from UAE authorities and be prepared to take shelter if instructed. Our travel advisory for the UAE remains at Level 3: Reconsider Travel. The U.S. Embassy and Consulate General remain open but on ordered-departure status, meaning that non-emergency U.S. government personnel have been relocated outside the UAE. For Americans who require passport or other consular services, contact us through our U.S. Citizen Services Navigator at ae.usembassy.gov/services/. Routine U.S. visa services in the UAE remain suspended. Actions to Take: - Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security updates from the U.S. Embassy and Consulate General. - Carefully review our Travel Advisory for the UAE. - If an aerial attack occurs, stay away from glass doors, windows, and any fallen debris, and monitor your phone and news outlets for official guidance. - Keep a supply of food, water, medications, and other essential items in case it is necessary to shelter for a prolonged period. - Keep family and friends informed of your whereabouts and well-being. - Have travel documents up to date and easily accessible, and contact us if your U.S. passport is lost or will soon expire. - Keep a low profile and be aware of your surroundings. - Pay close attention to communications from local officials. - Keep your cell phone charged and pre-programmed with the emergency numbers listed below. Assistance: - Dial 999 for emergency services in UAE. - Contact the Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General in Dubai by visiting ae.usembassy.gov/services/, scrolling down to the “U.S. Citizen Services Navigator,” and clicking on your preferred location. - U.S. State Department Consular Affairs Call Center: 1-888-407-4747 (in United States or Canada) or 202-501-4444(worldwide).

A year ago, President Trump visited the UAE — the first U.S. president to do so in nearly two decades. In the year since, both countries have shown what this partnership is made of. A partnership forged over decades. Built on trust. Proven under pressure. 🇺🇸🇦🇪 #USAinUAE

Great to see the UAE at this year’s @SelectUSAGov Investment Summit in Maryland — 45 delegates, led by H.E. Mohammad Al Hawi. From plenaries and panels to @USChamber networking and a meeting with Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade Diane Farrell, the delegation explored new opportunities to invest in the U.S. market and support American jobs.

Repost @travelgov X account: Worldwide Caution: The Department of State advises Americans worldwide, and especially in the Middle East, to exercise increased caution.  Americans abroad should follow the guidance in security alerts issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.  Periodic airspace closures may cause travel disruptions.  U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted.  Groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or locations associated with the United States and/or Americans throughout the world.  Enroll at step.state.gov to receive the latest security alerts and follow the “U.S. Department of State - Security Updates for U.S. Citizens” channel on WhatsApp or @TravelGov on X.  When planning travel, carefully read the Travel Advisory and detailed information for your destination, and any recent alerts at travel.state.gov/destination.

Eid al-Fitr, also known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, unites Muslim families, friends, and communities in honor of their spiritual devotion at the conclusion of Ramadan.  It also serves as a reminder of the foundational American principle of religious liberty, which my Administration is fighting for every day. We offer our warmest greetings for a blessed Eid al-Fitr to all who celebrate.

U.S. citizens seeking assistance should use the U.S. Citizen Services Navigator: https://ae.usembassy.gov/services/ Repost from @travelgov X account: United Arab Emirates: We are monitoring the situation in the Middle East closely and will keep you updated so you can make decisions about your safety. If you want to leave the Middle East, the U.S. government is ready to assist by providing you the latest information about the departure options available. President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, and the Department of State have no higher priority than the safety and security of American citizens. An increasing number of commercial flights are operating out of international airports in the UAE. Seats on commercial flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai are available now for travel to multiple U.S. and European cities, although some flights may be cancelled with little notice. Borders with Oman and Saudi Arabia have been open, and commercial flights from those countries are operating.
