I'm thrilled for this opportunity to teach a workshop at @arrowmont_school this summer. We're going to grind and mull regionally sourced pigments, learn about lakes and inks, and experiment with painterly approaches using our bespoke watercolor paints.
Please spread the word to family and friends. All levels welcome. ππ€Έπ½ββοΈπ«π

A few memories from my exhibit, Nightbloom. There is a link in my bio to an edited/condensed version of the talk I gave June 10th. Huge shout out to @traceymorgangallery and everyone who supported me along the way. I threw in a photo of my ETSU grad committee from March 2024 right after I passed my final thesis review because they helped shape a new direction. @rogerspottery@saturatedsight@andrewscottross
Thank you, friends!

Included in our exhibition Forbidden Fruit, βBroken Eggsβ by Ursula Gullow. Up through 5/9
The exhibition draws inspiration from the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden, examining the consequences of succumbing to temptation, the thirst for knowledge, shame, and mortality while further engaging with with modern themes of seduction, forbidden pleasure, and the loss of innocence.
This featured work by Gullow utilizes iconographic symbols and art historical references to signify loss of virtue.
Broken Eggs, 2024, Oil on canvas, 30h x 40w in

If industrial ruins are your thing, I strongly recommend a visit to @goodallcenter_glendaleshoals near Spartanburg. This is everything I love: history exposed, nature reclaiming its place, big rocks in the river that you can have a picnic on, perfect for drawing or painting outside, etc π.
It's hard to choose just 10 images to summarize my experience as a visiting artist with @woffordenvs . First there was the @goodallcenter_glendaleshoals itself, the only building remaining from the Glendale Mill that burned down in 2004. Then there was the landscape waking up to Spring, and my research preparing pigments for painting, boiling the berries of heavenly bamboo to make a green ink, mulling gritty red earth, and burned wood I found on the trail; making drawings of the landscape and of a still life I set up in the house. All while contemplating the latest unfounded war with its maximalist endgame; have we been here already? Or is it different this time?
Please lmk if you have your own newsletter that I can join for updates. This scrolling thing is fun from time to time, but not always the best way to keep updated on your nifty events. Thanks!
I'm in the final days of my October residency at @revolveavl . This was a great opportunity to unfurl older paintings on canvas, take stock, and re-configure or ammend some of them. I invite you to stop by for a look before they come down on Sunday.
The artist, @lindailarsen will have an opening reception next door 4-6pm, Saturday Nov 1.
I hope to see you! ππ»ββοΈ

"Six-Toed Monster" is a wall installation approx 120" x 56" constructed from my 2009 painting of the same title. I've also cut and sewn the canvases of several other paintings to it. This piece is currently on view at @revolveavl until Nov. 3.
