Alright folks, the time has come to say goodbye. Tuesday 12/30/2025 will be our last day of service at the broadway location. Please join us in celebrating this amazing beer community that we have loved being a part of for the last 16 years and drink the last of our beers while we got em! We will have food by @desipdx so be sure to come hungry! The fun starts at 3pm. 240 N. Broadway We hope to see everyone there! 🍻

Well folks, it’s with a heavy heart that I have to say this, but the time has come to close the brewery. Upright has been a proud part of the Portland beer scene for over sixteen years, a time that has been a bit of a roller coaster with change in the industry and the world at large. It has been an incredible experience on our end, and I hope that we helped people feel joy and stimulation, whether it was by way of a tasty beer or an honest chat in the taproom. Here is what to expect going forward: - The brewery will cease production in a couple of months but operate like normal until then, making solid, well-crafted beers. - The brewery taproom will be open through the tail end of December pouring the usual mix of lagers, saisons, real ales, and other straightforward beers we’re known for. We would love to see you between now and the end of the year! - Our satellite location, the Beer Station at NE 72nd and Prescott, will remain open and eventually transition to pouring beers from our favorite breweries. It will continue for a long time as a welcoming neighborhood spot with thoughtfully served craft beer. The Upright production space has history, with over a century behind it and the small mark we stamped ourselves more recently. It served us well and we would love to see it continue as part of the local beer scene, but no one is lined up to take it over. If any breweries are interested, please reach out. Throughout the years we’ve worked with so many rad and talented people. We’ll have opportunities to acknowledge these relationships in person later, but in the meantime, thank you. And ditto to the folks who have supported what we do. Thank you.

Tonight @thebeermongers is celebrating 16 years of @uprightbrewing by showcasing the abundant range, depth, and quality of their handcrafted beer on all 16 of their taps, not to mention a very special Wednesday bottle share. One of those 16 offerings includes Upright's last beer, aptly called The Last Saison. I first had Upright's Reggae Junkie Gruit (the foundation of Special Herbs, I believe) at the Oregon Brewers Festival in 2010 or 2011, then finally visited their basement location in 2015. Along with many others in this community, I learned so much from Alex's creations and reveled in them all, whenever I could. I will always remember those bottle shares & events for @brews4newaves and @nebuleusbeer , the amazing prismatic light in the basement, the ever playing Jazz on the turntable, the only time I've Shut The Box, a collaboration beer I unintentionally inspired, and even having my birthday party in the basement a month before the pandemic. Thank you Upright Brewing for creating an everlasting legacy in Portland beer. Your craft will be missed 🍻

Looking forward to a good ole fashioned hang with my talented friend Alex Ganum of @uprightbrewing this evening. It’s been a wild time for craft beer and small businesses in general. Alex has spent the last 15 years making some of the most delicate, spot on, nuanced beers in Oregon, and I think it’s time we all let him know that. So come join us tonight as we have an @uprightbrewing tapbtakeover. We will also be tapping ‘Hittin’ the Mitten’ Midwest IPA, which is the result of a collaboration between the many talented Detroit expats who happen to be brewers. This beer, made via a collaboration between @montavillabrewworks , @breaksidebrews , @ocbeer , @rusebrewing and @uprightbrewing brewers, is a special one.We are tapping it to celebrate the 80th birthday of our buddy Bruce, a fellow Detroiter, Vietnam Vet, retired postal carrier, and doer of good deeds. It’s gonna be a hoot tonight. Come party with us!
