We Won!!!!🏆🩵💜 At this years activities awards, SASS and URN won best collab event for Light Up the Night 2025! This event was such a labour of love, and we are so so proud, thank you to everyone at @urn1350 that helped us widen the reach of such an important event, as well as all the @uonwellbeingteam representatives and charities that came and spoke. Swipe for my (very nervous) speech to hear what this event was all about.🩵

Two weeks ago, we had the privilege of collaborating with UoN Students Against Sexual Violence and Sexism Society @uonsass through broadcasting their annual Light Up the Night event! Aimed to reclaim our campus as a safe space for women, the vigil platformed speeches and poetry from students, staff and representatives from local sexual violence awareness organisations. Alongside this, we broadcasted a special episode of the Women’s Pulse discussing key issues surrounding women’s safety. We also followed the Vigil with a schedule of all women’s-produced After Dark shows: @thehouseshow.urn @emounmaskedurn and @city.soundcheck_urn spotlighting empowering female artists. Thank you to Eve, Lil and all the SASS team for allowing us to collaborate with them on this important project and to all the URN members who helped across the night, presenting and producing in such a professional manner 💜 The full SASS vigil recording is available now on our Spotify - link in our bio! What a day! From friendship bracelets and mindful colouring to making heartfelt cards for loved ones, it was amazing to see so many of you getting involved, getting creative, and starting important conversations. There were lots of freebies and resources available but more importantly, there were supportive chats with our wellbeing and sexual health experts throughout the day. No judgement. Just information, kindness and space to ask questions. Thank you to everyone who came along, got stuck in, and helped make the fair such a welcoming, positive space ✨ If you couldn’t make it, you can still explore support and resources via the link in our bio.

Last night we held a consent workshop for Medics Football and Cheer! We had a great discussion about what consent looks like, the bystander effect and how rape culture progresses. Thank you all for coming!🩵🩷

If you attended or listened in to our Light Up the Night event, you might remember the lovely Karen who spoke about the charity Notts Sexual Violence Support Services. We’re choosing to highlight this charity because it provides essential help for survivors of sexual violence from any background, race or sexuality, swipe for more info!🩵🩷

Light Up the Night 2026!🕯️🌙✨ Thank you again to everyone who attended in the cold (or tuned in via @urn1350 ) to this year’s Light Up the Night event, and a massive well done to our brave speakers🩵 To recap, we shared hot chocolates, goody-bags and cakes while we heard from the wonderful @favourforuon , as well as the University’s Sexual Violence Liaison Officers who discussed the Report and Support system. We also heard from Lucy at @nottinghamnightline : a student-ran, non judgemental overnight listening service which runs throughout termtime. @uonlgbtsoc also had the opportunity to speak, highlighting the importance of inclusivity when discussing sexual violence. We were further joined by the amazing charity @nottssvss , who we will be highlighting further on our social media in the coming days. They have services which include safe spaces around Nottingham. Finally, our own members shared their stories and some beautiful poetry, this event serving as a reminder that you are never alone, there is always someone who can help. Please turn to one of these services if you are struggling. It’s okay if you found what was discussed on Wednesday triggering- we are here for you.❤️‍🩹
