This stunning wedding venue was beautifully refurbished by @lincolnlimeltd using traditional lime mortar repointing and sensitive property restoration with lime mortar and @baumit_uk lime products.
When a historic building requires repointing, choosing lime, whether hydraulic or lime putty based, is essential. It allows the structure to breathe, move naturally and continue to age with dignity, preserving its character for generations to come.
We always love seeing completed projects. Yet this one felt especially meaningful when we returned to see it in full glory, hosting weddings and celebrations.

Choosing the correct Natural Hydraulic Lime is critical to the long-term performance of masonry, particularly in renovation and conservation projects.
At Unity Lime, we supply a full range of Chaux Socli and Renobat NHL binders to suit different exposure levels and substrates.
NHL 2
Best suited to soft and historic masonry.
Highly breathable and flexible.
Ideal for internal plasters, sheltered pointing and conservation work.
NHL 3.5
The most commonly specified grade in the UK.
A balanced combination of strength and breathability.
Suitable for external pointing, renders and general masonry in most exposure zones.
NHL 5
High strength and durable.
Designed for highly exposed locations, coastal environments and structural masonry.
Not usually suitable for soft historic substrates.
It is important to remember that stronger is not always better. The mortar should generally be softer than the masonry it is being used with.

🌿 Located in one of Jersey’s most picturesque valleys, Le Moulin de Quétivel is the only surviving working watermill on the island.

The Dry Lined Internal Wall System 🌿
For this project, @amcbuildlimited used PAVATEX Pavadry as a high performance, breathable internal insulation system, combining wood fibre insulation with OSB board.
This respects and cares for the fabric of the building whilst allowing for a more modern internal dry lined finish.
Unlike modern internal insulation systems that rely heavily on vapour barriers, Pavadry is
- Vapour permeable
- Hygroscopic
- Capillary active
This allows the wall to breathe naturally, significantly reducing the risk of interstitial condensation, trapped moisture and mould growth, which are common issues when using modern materials internally on historic solid wall constructions.
The result is a healthier internal environment, improved energy efficiency and a durable, high performing insulation solution designed for long term building performance.
Oxford City Council has redeveloped East Oxford Community Centre to create a ‘cultural hub’ which can be put to good use for generations to come!

Start the Week the Woodfibre Way 🌿
This purpose-built self-build home shows how high-performance construction and sustainability can work seamlessly together, built by @mac_eye_projects
A continuous 100mm layer of PAVATEX Isolair was used across the walls and roof to form the external thermal envelope, combined with sheep wool insulation, a natural material with excellent thermal performance.
The external render was applied directly onto the Isolair boards, while internally the walls were finished with OSB, plaster and paint, concealing the stud wall and sheep wool insulation.
Hardwood-framed, triple glazed windows were carefully detailed with overlapping wood fibre insulation to reduce air leakage and prevent thermal bridging.
