So chuffed with this gorgeous engineered oak timber floor which we installed last week in this beautiful self build.
The floor is floating and a single interconnected installation between different rooms. This means there are no thresholds, perfect for improving accessibility and also visually stunning.

When we install a floor we follow these steps:
🌿 Assess the substrate, this should be flat and level
🌿 If it is not, we propose a layer of self levelling
🌿 The substrate needs to be firm because flexing will jeopardise the integrity of the floor
🌿 High density underlay was used in this instance with moisture barrier - this cushions the floor for your comfort and acts as an acoustic barrier too

Pictured here is a wall to wall Wine Rack custom built for our client. Damp was one of the main concerns as the outer wall was built against a bank. As a result we have used Marine Birch ply suitable even for outdoor applications.

Foul water installation - we believe best practice is PVC pipes rested in a trench on geo textile membrane and embedded in a sand bed, prior to covering with gravel or soil. A sand bed is better than gravel bed as when overhead pressure is applied the sand will compact around the pipe, where gravel is used there is always a chance the gravel could split the pipe leading to leakage.
