Collaborative shoot for @underworld.uk with @vivifien shot by @ty_chapman in conversation with & fashion and styling by @wesleycmanners .
Created for Underworld issue 004, we wanted to come together to produce an editorial capturing the essence and extremities of trans life in East London.
Both creative and trans existence in the city is a pendulum in constant swing between fantasy and reality; in one moment you may be a muse, an icon or star.. In the next you are doing whatever it takes to keep the roof over your head, food at your table (and estrogen in your thigh).
Through these photos we wanted to explore this dichotomy in a time of such a hyperreal and sensationalised widespread portrayal of trans life.
We wanted to highlight the opulence and glamour of the world we create for ourselves, but also the realities of how we must survive within them.
